Stephanie | 163 comments I think it would be fun to do a themed challenge. Since the Christmas season is always hectic with shopping, traveling and so on, what if the books we read fell under requirements for the challenge but were our choice? This way we could read what we could fit in with the hectic schedule. I suppose the books could be nominated as well for the "challenges" we wanted to incorporate for our BotM theme. This idea works in many ways.

Here are some challenges or BotM festive themed ideas that I found upon research.

~ Gingerbread Man: Male PoV
Read a book that is from a male perspective.

~ Elves: Short Book
Tradition states that elves are short, so reading a book with
less than 300 pages.

~ Mistletoe: People Kissing
Kissing under the mistletoe is popular in December, so
finding a book with a couple kissing on the cover.

~ Santa: Big Book
Notoriously known for his over-sized belly, read a book as
big as Santa something with more than 400 pages.

~ Candy Cane: 'J' Author
Candy canes are shaped like a 'J' so read a book that is
written by a author with their first or last name beginning
with 'J'.

~ Christmas Tree: Colorful Cover
A book with more than 4 colors on the cover.

~ Ornaments: Circular designs
Most ornaments are circular in shape, so finding a book
whose cover has a circular shape image.

This was just an idea that came across my mind while I was reading my current book. I liked the fact that it works in challenge form and using one of the ideas such as "gingerbread man" to choose a BotM to nominate as well.

Happy Reading ^.^

Kristie | 4685 comments I've been considering running some monthly challenges. :) I'm traveling today, but I'll take a peek at it as a challenge when I have a chance. It doesn't really work as a botm theme though.

Kristie | 4685 comments Hey everyone!! Only two more days to nominate themes. Do we have any suggestions this month?

Tracy (tracylemos) | 233 comments Books with something representing Christmas in the title or on the cover. Could be snow, a sleigh, Christmas tree, etc.

Nikki ~ The Nocturnal Bookworm (nyxreadsstuff) Snow or Ice on the cover?

Since December tends to be a time when family gets together maybe a book where family is a main feature of the plot?

Book where the main character receives a gift?

Kristie | 4685 comments Nikki - I'm going to add Snow or Ice on the cover for you since it was the first one you listed.

I'll add a book of short stories for me.
