November/December Nominations

For November and December, since they tend to be full months of holiday parties, school or work projects, and general end of the year busyness, let's nominate two books each that you would view to be companions of each other, either because they are the same genre, or because one mentions the other, or have something else in common.

Please nominate two "companion" book to read in November/December.

What We Talk About When We Talk About Love
and
The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat

are both collections of short stories, one fiction the other non-fiction. In the busy holiday season, it might be nice to be reading something that can be read in short spirts, shorter pieces that can be finished and the book abandoned for a period of time without losing one's place in the narrative.

Stalingrad: The Fateful Siege, 1942–1943 and The New York Trilogy, since they both have cities in the title (I'm assuming the New York references the city and not the state, but I don't know).
