Marianne Dobie | 49 comments It has taken me a long time to get around to reading this book - mainly because of contrariness - I don't like being told to read a book! But it was as good as everyone said it was. A mystery story, solved by an autistic boy and his teenage sister, who between them find their missing cousin, while the rest of the family seem unable to function. Fascinating insight into the boy's mind, a good way to increase empathy / understanding. And interesting relations within a family and how they live day-to-day.

Jane (janeboniface) | 123 comments I agree Marianne, this is one of those books that I bought a second copy of as I'm always recommending it to students to read. As a poignant side note, the author Siobhan Dowd died of cancer at the age of 47. She had just started work on a new book - which was then given to Patrick Ness to finish: "A Monster Calls". Now that's a tearjerker...
