Moloch | 2714 comments Hello,

I need to add the second author (Anne Gerd Holt or Anne G. Holt) to this book https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35285430-maria-martina-e-maria-maggina

but I can't because it's too similar to the first author (Anne Holt): when I save, the name disappears.

I tried Anne G.^Holt, Anne G.^^Holt and Anne Gerd Holt, but none of them worked.

(They are 2 different persons, see
https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_Holt
https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_G._Holt )

Can someone fix? Thanks

This is the recommended workaround.

lethe | 13673 comments I personally find it easiest to use the author name without a space between first name (or initial) and last name. You can be certain that name is not in use at the moment, and there is less to correct on the author profile when you are going to merge :)

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 6592 comments Just add the first name, save, and then go back and edit. The system only looks at the last name to decide it's too similar.

For the above, I would have copied the primary author into the secondary author name and added the G (or Gerd, whichever is correct). Then made the primary author only Anne. Save. Then going back into edit the primary author. This is simple and no fiddling with order and driving myself nuts at the same time (because it's a short walk, no driving necessary).
