Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments So far October is going amazingly well. Both The Name of the Wind and The Final Empire have been 5 star reads. I adored them both so much.

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments Jan 2018 is going well so far, I've finished 1 BR and I've got another 4 on the go! I've definitely overbooked but I'm enjoying all the reads so far so I'm going to try and make sure I don't abandon any this year.

Your team's winning so I need to encouragement!

message 27: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8716 comments So that's a pretty cool list you've got. What do you think you'll drop?

I think Children of Time was moved to March if that helps (although looking at your March, it'll only be a temporary reprieve 😂).

message 28: by Charlie (last edited Feb 05, 2018 03:13AM) (new)

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments I'm gonna drop the Drizzt books and Children of Time for now I think. I really enjoyed Homeland (Drizzt 1) but I don't really have time for the sequels at the moment.

message 29: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments Also going to drop Prince of Fools. Just realised I don't own it yet so I would need to buy it.

message 30: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8716 comments Frizzy an autocorrect of Drizzt or am I just oblivious to something? Haha!

That's fair enough. Shame about Children of Time, but there's bound to be another read set up for it sometime.

Also, that's a very good reason to drop Prince of Fools. I will be prioritising ones I own too, even over kindle books.

message 31: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments Yes, stupid autocorrect, I've fixed it. I started Illuminae btw, I'm really liking it!

message 32: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8716 comments Charlie wrote: "Yes, stupid autocorrect, I've fixed it. I started Illuminae btw, I'm really liking it!"

Awesome. I started that and Temeraire 6, and I'm finding myself favouring Illuminae! :)

message 33: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments It's so good right!? I'm loving it too. It's just what I was in the mood for. Don't get me wrong, I live all the epic fantasy but something in space is a nice change.

I've cut a few more books out, now Feb looks better. March is still freaking insane though.

message 34: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8716 comments That looks doable! :) I managed 7 in January I think, might be wrong haha.

message 35: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments So far March has been a total wash for me. it's the 14th and I haven't started ANY of the buddy reads I'd planned :(. I've just not been in the mood to read unfortunately.

Im still reading Nevernight and The Last Unicorn from Feb and I was supposed to start Prodigy on the 23rd but I didn't get to it.

So far in March I've missed:
Prince of Thorns 1st March
Empress 1st March
The Red Knight 1st March
Gemina 5th March
Burn Bright March 13th

I'm feeling like a right failure :/ I need to pick 2 of these books to read and cut the rest, especially since I have another BR starting tomorrow.

You're not a failure, I'm sure this happens to everyone at some point!

I would suggest Gemina, because you bought it full price in anticipation of the buddy read, and you'll fly through it. And Prince of Thorns because you own it and its really short. :) but obviously, whichever you fancy most!

I started burn bright last night and I'm already 40% in since it's super short. I'm not sure about Prince of thrones yet but I'm definitely keeping Gemina

message 38: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8716 comments Ah that's good hun! :)

message 39: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments Okay so all of March and most of April has been a wash for me. I think I took on too much and then I dreaded looking at my list so I just ignored pretty much everything on it and just picked what I wanted from my shelves.

I'm clearing the backlog from March and April, just deleting what I've missed from my list since I know I won't start reading those now. I'm going to start again tonight with a buddy read I had scheduled for today and see how I get on. I'm going to try not to fall into the trap of over scheduling again.

message 40: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8716 comments Your schedule looks much more manageable now hun. :) I trimmed mine down too. I need more free time!

message 41: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments Siobhan wrote: "Your schedule looks much more manageable now hun. :) I trimmed mine down too. I need more free time!"

Basically I was scared to look at it because it was so overwhelming, which is mad really since reading is for fun! I just couldn't bring myself to clean the list for some reason since I really wanted to read all those books but I've realised I can read them anytime and I'm sure they'll come around on the BR list again another time. I've just been reading whatever I like and I've read 12 books in 4 weeks so that's obviously working for me!

I'm just going to commit to a few a month now and read whatever I fancy in between. That's much more realistic for me.

message 42: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8716 comments Yeah that is mad if it felt like a chore. You can read them any time! :) I think a few a month is gonna be best for me too.

message 43: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments Siobhan wrote: "Yeah that is mad if it felt like a chore. You can read them any time! :) I think a few a month is gonna be best for me too."

Moderation is definitely better. I haven't felt any pressure this week I've been reading every single day :D.

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments So glad I finally got Elric off the list, it was a hard slog! I feel like I've done really well this month, 4 reads completed already and another 3 to go. I'm finally back into the swing of BRs.
