Hi All! It is time for our very first pre-readathon reading challenge. No pressure to join. This is just for fun and to get us in the swing of things. This readathon runs from the time this is posted until Monday morning when I get into work Pacific Coast time, October 2nd. So you have just over a week.

Unfortunately, I am unable to give a gift card for this time around. However, the winner will be able to choose the challenge for Challenge #2 (which will be a weekend long challenge). The winner will be randomly selected from everyone who manages to complete the challenge.

So what is challenge number 1? You will need to read 1000 pages be the end of the time. Now, how you reach that number doesn't matter to me. Picture books, comic books, audiobooks, biographies, young adult, middle grade, historical fiction, fantasy, etc. All options are welcome. If you choose audiobooks, just use the number of pages listed on goodreads. If you've already started the book, find out what percent you're at (total time listened divided by total time of the audiobook) multiple that by number of pages, and subtract from number of pages. That will give you a rough idea of your starting page number. Do the same thing to figure out what your ending page number is. For example: I'm at 21:10 out of 45:33 on The Way of Kings I'm going to round that to 21.25 out of 45.5 which give me 46.7%. The mass market paperback edition has 1258 pages so if I multiple that by 46.7, I am roughly on page 588. I hope that made sense.

You can both sign up and post your progress here. You can post updates as you finish books or post all your updates in one thread. The one thing I will ask you to do is when you've completed the challenge, post a new comment saying you've completed the challenge. List the books with the pages. If you do read a lot of picture books, you can just put "assorted picture books - x number of pages". This is going to be honor code system. I'm not going to go and verify anyone's page count or participation. I will admit, I've been in a reading slump this whole summer and I'm really hoping that having a goal of 1000 pages in a week will help get me out of the slump.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out

I had a lot of fun during the first Pre-readathon challenge. It definitely worked to get me out of my reading slump. I don't remember when the last time was that I read four books in a week (probably the last readathon). We had about 34 people finish the challenge. random.org choose the winner of the challenge and that was Sunsettowers. She created this second challenge for us.

So for our second reading challenge, you will need to start and finish ONE book that has been on your TBR for at least a year. Sunsettowers decided that there will be no limitations on what kind of book you choose so you are free to pick any kind of book in any format that you want. Audiobook, comic book, etc. It just needs to have been on your list for a year and you need to read it in its entirety during the course of the challenge.

This second challenge will run from this Friday (October 6th) through Monday (October 9th). Gabby has already picked the third challenge so the reward for this is the knowledge that you've cleared a book off that dreaded Mt. TBR :)

Sorry that this is getting posted so late. For this final reading challenge, we are going to attempt to read for a total of 24 hours before the end of next week. This challenge will end Friday morning (Pacific Time Zone) . It starts immediate

Same rules as the other two challenges. Anything counts for reading time.

Let me know if you have any questions. :)

Jane | 1438 comments I'm in. I know I read a lot so this shouldn't be difficult for me but it is half term next week and I'm spending it with family so I'll try and get as much reading as possible this weekend. My problem will be to remember to time myself.
(I'm 9 hours ahead of Pacific Time Zone)
