Bethany (bethlikesbooks) | 6 comments I've been looking for this book forever!

A story about a girl in junior high (maybe?) who discovers she had been switched at birth with a princess, and returns to her home country to assume the role. I know this sounds a LOT like "The Princess Diaries", but it is most definitely not! I read this in middle school (around 1992), the paperback cover had an illustration of a girl wearing a ball gown and lifting up the skirt to reveal a pair of jeans underneath. There was also a seamstress working on the dress.

Help! Thanks so much!

Tara (snowytara) | 24 comments I think it's "A Royal Pain" by Ellen Conford. If not, good luck!

Kate (katiebobus) | 200 comments I LOVED this book!!! I heard Princess Diaries was good but I am still bitter that the plot was so blatantly stolen from A Royal Pain.

Bethany (bethlikesbooks) | 6 comments YES! That's it! Thank you SO much! Before I posted this here, I tried searching Worldcat for it, but "Princesses--Fiction" yields a TON of results, as expected.

Thanks again! And Kate, you are SO right. Princess Diaries was a rip-off.

CLM | 298 comments I love that Ellen Conford, and she once autographed it for me. Another one on that topic I like is called A Coronet for Cathie by Gwendoline Courtney.
