Starting a day early as I can't seem to find the momentum to finish the million other books I've started!

First quarter - (view spoiler)[I first read this book 10 years ago. It was my second Austen and I adored it! I had forgotten, though, how hilarious the interactions are between Mrs and Mr Bennett. I also loved learning the different characters of the Bennett sisters, even the silly younger ones.

Second quarter - (view spoiler)[I really dislike reading of these family members embarrassed by each other. Lizzie's derision of Mary's public singing and her mother's constant chatter make her a little unappealing. I do understand it, but I think I'd rather see her proud of her family and happy to see them happy, regardless of how others in society would view them. However, I was just as vexed as she was, when she prompted Lizzie to marry and promised to never speak to her again if she did not. Mr Bennett remains hilarious!

The slow-burn enemies to lovers romance between Lizzie and Mr Darcy is just exquisite! I hated Mr Collins for his interruption of this and I feel for poor Charlotte in her marriage to him, forced by her circumstances to accept him. (hide spoiler)]

Third quarter - (view spoiler)[Mr Darcy professed his love and despite his cold manner it made me swoon! I'm glad he followed their angry parting with a letter explaining all his actions, as well as the lies from Mr Wickham. I spent chapters on chapters longing for them to be reunited again. Fourth quarter - (view spoiler)[The final quarter focuses mainly on Lydia's rash marriage to Mr Wickham. This forms the catalyst for bringing Lizzie and Mr Darcy finally together, though not without more difficulties. I'm so glad they eventually gained their happily ever after, though. (hide spoiler)]

What a blessed reread. I forget how much I love this book, without judging it as an "old book" until I read it again. I think the Bennets are my favorite literary family - Elizabeth's mother is so PERFECTLY written

omg yeah I liked this a lot - I did the Rosamund Pike audiobook and she did the BEST voices, her voice for the mother is hilarious and fit really well. I was surprised the prose didn't come off stuffier, was probably the humor

Yeah he was such a dick about her family, such shitty assumptions (some were fair though so like... I would see her mother and assume she'd raised her daughters like cattle too LOL)

She freakin' killed this audiobook!!! I was so impressed with her voices!! It really helped with distinguishing the characters.

Not just because of the ending, but to have the one family member do something that creates panic and this "wtf are they doing??? they'll regret this" moment is all to real.
