Please introduce yourselves. Any favorite historical fiction books/authors? Favorite/least favorite historical time period and why? And something you have learned from reading historical pieces?

Hello All, I'm Robyn. I am a lover of everything history, obviously. My favorite historical time period is the 20s. Speakeasies, sequins, flapper dresses, art deco, gangsters...what more could a person ask for?! Something I have learned from reading historical pieces is that as advanced as humans like to think we are, we also make the same mistakes over and over. It's absolutely fascinating!

Britni (dr_bross_2017) Hey y'all! I'm Britni and while historical fiction isn't my go-to (I gravitate more towards fantasy and thrillers), I do love a good WWII historical fiction. Excited about expanding my reading horizons with y'all in the coming months!

Megan Fritz (megbomb79) | 2 comments Im Megan, from RogersReads on booktube and bookstagram. I think I have gone through periods of enjoying most different periods of historical fiction. The favorites I go back to the most often are probably WWII and Victorian London (think the seedy underbelly- Jack the Ripper type stuff).

Shaun (sturnerstuff) | 10 comments Hi All. I'm Shaun and have a recently launched BookTube channel with just a couple of clumsy videos on it at the moment. I tend to read more historical non-fiction than fiction, but I do like fiction set around the medieval period in European history and also WWII.

By complete coincidence most of the books on my TBR right now are historical fiction, including one set in the last Saxon era, one set just after the Great Fire of London and the last one being a fictionalised account of the Lizzie Borden murder case.

Ooooo I love Jack the Ripper too. So fascinating that they never caught him. There are so many conspiracy theories too!

Krista (booksandjams) Hi y'all! (I have to talk that way now that I live in the south! Haha)

I'm Krista from the youtube channel - Booksandjams. I LOVE historical fiction and would say my favorite era to read about is WWII. But I am happy to read about other time periods as well. I think it's so interesting to get a glimpse into what people really may have felt and experienced by reading about characters in historical fiction.

Hello, ladies. I'm Carrie. I don't have a YT channel, but am an avid viewer. ;) I've tried other book groups, and have to say that I haven't found a "home." I love history and historical fiction, so perhaps this group will be the perfect fit. For years and years, my favorite era was WWII. As much as I will still gravitate to these books if they sound like a good story, I'm kinda burned out from this time period. And I've been in such a reading slump, I'll read anything as long as it is an engaging (and well written) story.

I'm up for anything that is on my obnoxious TBR shelves. I've placed the September read on hold. I own December's read. I can relate to your video, Robyn, where you talk about stress and books waiting to be read. I'm not even going to tell you how much I have. Or confess that I dropped about $100 at bookoutlet this weekend. ;) Although, only one book was for me. The rest was for the kids (we homeschool).

Looking forward to discussing books with you all!

Shaun P. | 8 comments Hello all. I am Shaun from the Booktube channel Eclectic Reads. Though not my go to genre I do enjoy historical fiction from many different time periods. I may not be able join every month as I have a tendency lately to over commit myself, but will join in when I can and the book appeals.

So many historical fiction books are WWII! I love them too :) I get what you're saying about being burnt out by them though. I'll try to do a variety of time periods, and try not to do the same time period in a row so we can get a lot of different kinds of books in!

Helena Ferreira | 1 comments Hi guys! I'm Helena, I have a booktube channel, it's called Helenareads, I love history and I love books so of course I love historical books hahahah! I love and have read a lot of books on war, especially on the IIWW, but recently I read a western book (vengeance road) and it was AMAZING, so I really wanna read other kinds of historical fictions, and expand my horizon!

Brian Dry | 2 comments Nearly finished my Jimmy Barnes book.It makes me think how lucky the family I was born into. Recently put a book on my parents and their WW2 encounters as a giveaway. I think I'll try one of Jacks books next.

TR Don't know how I missed this but judging by the dates, I did. Oh well, better late than never. My name is Tom. One of my degrees is in history (the other is in political science) and I love to read so this makes the perfect group for me to join. I've requested the February book at my local library. Hopefully I get it before the end of the month. Fingers crossed.
