Our August theme is Vintage Action. You are welcome to nominate an older action book that is still in print or available in ebook.

(Please recall that we don't vote for books we've already read).

Here are the other considerations:

1. One nomination per group member. The books must be nominated with a Goodreads link by clicking on 'add book/author'. If a book does not have a Goodreads link, it will not be added to the poll.
2. Books need to be readily available, ie, in print (able to buy new or in ebook format).
3. Books should have some degree of action/adventure content.
4. Past group reads are not eligible to be nominated again. The past group discussions remain open for members to comment. You can consult the list of past reads here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

The poll will go up on July 18th.

Okay, going out on a limb here. I'm going to nominate a book I read back in 1972 or'73. It's available in digital and in several paperback editions. I found some on ABE for less than $4.

War Against the Mafia War Against the Mafia by Don Pendleton War Against the Mafia by Don Pendleton War Against the Mafia (The Executioner, #1) by Don Pendleton War Against the Mafia by Don Pendleton

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I have to balance Mack Bolan with Chinese Puzzle, a Destroyer book. Where Bolan uses all kinds of groovy guns to kill off the bad guys & is serious about it, Remo Williams is trained by Chiun, the master of Sinanju which is the sun source of all martial arts, & can kill people with his little finger. Well, this is only the third book in the series, so he's not that good yet, but he's getting there.

The book is full of humor & especially good if you remember the times (1972, China, Richard Nixon) since the co-author, Richard Sapir, was a political columnist & toned Murphy's (possibly best known for the Chevy Chase movie "Fletch") slapstick humor down while adding some wonderful barbs at current politics & society.

I know Jim. I have books from several of the old series that were popular "back then", Executioner, Destroyer, The Hunter, The Baroness, The Vigilante, (the interestingly named "The Penetrator") and a lot of others. They can be tracked down used now if you just know they exist.

**Reminder: you need to post a Goodreads link. I hate having to leave books off the poll.

You still need a goodreads link. It didn't make the poll because of this. Maybe next time.
