Sam (sam_nguyen) | 1 comments Hello everyone! I stumbled upon this group just now and thought I'd love to be a part of it.

My name is Sam. I'm pretty young (just turned 18 yesterday) and I've only been writing poetry for the past three years. I've self-published a poetry collection as a present to my family and friends (it's called 'raw emotions' and it's on Goodreads.)

I'm really excited to read the wonderful poems posted in this group and would like to contribute one. This is a poem I wrote about half a year ago about myself. I hope you enjoy it, and please leave any feedback as you like.

Best,
Sam

rainbow

what colour is the fog
that keeps flirting around my head
enveloping the lobes
and diffusing between the hemispheres?
it leaves my brain empty-handed
as it plays and skirts away.

what colour is the fluid
that keeps oozing out from my wrist
networking the phalanges
and dissolving through skin and bone?
it leaves my hand blushed
as its humour slowly dries.

what colour is the hotchpotch
that keeps gushing out from my intestines
igniting the pharynx
and grazing my lower lips?
it leaves my body light
as it rushes out rhythmically.

i’d like to think they are all rainbow–
one of glitters and beauty
as if the ugliest parts of myself
can play out with grace.

i’d like to think my body celestial
and my mind ethereal
as if the ugliest parts of the world
cannot fuse into me.

but as I lie here tonight
in colours that are not rainbow
i feel my soul dispersing into the earth
what little is left of me?
