Kelly | 458 comments This young person's novel take place in Denmark during World War II. The Germans have control of Denmark and are going to start relocating Jewish people to concentration camps. Annemarie is 10 years old and her best friend, Ellen, is Jewish. Annemarie and her family try to help Ellen and her parents escape to Sweden before thy can be taken away by the Germans.

Number of Stars is a good book for a young adult starting to read about the war. The author tells the story from AnneMarie's viewpoint. It shows fear, bravery, risks and the situation of the time; however, the author does not go into details that are unnecessary for this age group.

Jenni Elyse (jenni_elyse) | 894 comments This was the first chapter book I ever read. It has stayed with me since I was a child and I love it. I reread it last year and I'm glad it stood the test of time. :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it as well.
