Could you clarify?

A public domain book is a work whose copyright has expired. Here in the United States, it is a book written before 1924. Think Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Arthur Conan Doyle, and the Bronte sisters.

Gutenberg.org is dedicated to making these available to everyone.

Here's a link to help: Popular Public Domain Books.
