Nominations are now open for the July Group Reads and will close on 18th June 2017 at midnight GMT. Voting will then be from 20th to 27th June 2017 inclusive.

You may nominate Two books, one in each category (1. Group Main Read, 2. Group Value Read)
Value books must be £4 ($6.02) or less and will also be added from the freebies board or good finds.

General rules for Group Reads

1) If your nomination wins - you will be asked to be the discussion moderator.

2) No self-nominations by authors please.

3) Please try not to repeat an author we have read in the last year, for the sake of variety. Check the bookshelves to see the authors we've read in the past year.
https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...

4) For your nomination please try and include Title, Author and Link (Use the "add book/author" link at the top of the comment box).

5) Please ensure your nomination is a British Mystery. See the thread https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... for what is a British Mystery if you are unsure.

If you nominate a book that is part of a series please be sure that it can be read as a standalone for those members that may not have read the other books in the series.

I will start the ball rolling with my nomination which in UK qualifies as a Value Read as it's only £3.99 but needs checking in US please.

My nomination is
Die of Shame by Mark Billingham
Die of Shame by Mark Billingham
"Every Monday evening, six people gather in a smart North London house to talk about addiction. There they share their deepest secrets: stories of lies, regret, and above all, shame.

Then one of them is killed - and it's clear one of the circle was responsible.

Detective Inspector Nicola Tanner quickly finds her investigation hampered by the strict confidentiality that binds these people and their therapist together. So what could be shameful enough to cost someone their life?

And how do you find the truth when denial and deception are second nature to all of your suspects?"

Beth Stewart | 583 comments Mary, it is also $10.65 in paperback in Canada. Interesting again that Canada is cheaper when you consider the exchange. That's unusual.

Shame about the price in US compared to over here. It means it will have to go as my main read nomination then.

For my Value Book Read I nominate;

The Beekeeper by Stewart Giles

The Beekeeper by Stewart Giles

"A shocking discovery starts a trail of mayhem on the Cornish coast.

Alice Green is a beekeeper in the small Cornish village of Polgarrow. She lives with her pet jackdaw in a beautiful cottage not far from the sea. One evening, Alice finds something strange under the hollyhock bush in her garden. The gruesome discovery will change everyone’s lives. And then Alice’s best friend Milly disappears . . .

Detective Harriet Taylor has just transferred to the area from Edinburgh. As she investigates a series of shocking crimes, she grows close to the old beekeeper and is determined to bring the criminals to justice. But who is really what they seem and who can she trust?

A crime mystery with a touch of black humour. You’ll enjoy this fast-paced and dark unearthing of the secrets of a sleepy Cornish village."

Good news for me on the Main Read - I picked up a copy from the library on Monday and got a jump start.
