Heather | 8549 comments Just FYI, I don't know if any of you are in or near L.A.California or have been to see the Getty Museum. Right now they are having a fascinating exhibit of ancient Roman, Greek and Etruscan art including the original Chimaera of Arezzo shipped here from the Ufizzi Museum in Florence, Italy. The website for the Getty is www.getty.edu and to search exhibits do an advanced search of Chimaera of Arezzo. It will show you a slide show and explain in English or Italian the particulars of this exhibit. Outstanding.

I have never visited the Getty Museum but I am sure that I will in the next year or two. I used to work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art back in 2002 and one of the first exhibitions I was part of was dedicated to Gauguin in New York Collections. His self portrait sculpture in wood known as "Head with Horns" was my favorite after the painting of the "Yellow Christ (a childhood favorite now in Buffalo, New York." The piece was purchased by the Getty Museum and this exhibition was last time it was displayed in NYC.

I should probably post this in the sculpture section Mary created!
