DHASG June Challenge

Introduction: June is here! School is out. Summer is coming fast. Time for long days, beach reads and riding out some hot days with cool drinks and treats and fun activities. Let's get some good reading done in June.

Rules:

1. Any DHASG member can participate in the challenge.
2. Books must be read between June 1st and June 30th.
3. A book may only be used once in the challenge.
4. Please sign up and list your stats or link to the completed stats listing when you finish the challenge.
5. In your stats, include book title, author, date read, and how it represents the specific part of the challenge.
6. Enjoy and happy reading.

Levels:

1. Hot June, Summer Afternoon: Read 9-12 books.
2. Better Be By June: Read 6-8 books.
3. June by the Isle of May: Read 4-5 books.

Categories
:

1.Pride: June is LBGTQ Pride Month, To show respect forand to honor the struggles of LGBTQ people, read a book that is about a person who is LGBTQ or written by an author who is from the community.
2.Adopt a Cat Month: For Adopt a Cat Month, read a book about cats, or one in which a character is or owns a cat, or a book that explores the human/cat bond. If you can find a book with a cat on the cover, even better.
3.A Rose by Any Name: June is Rose Month. Read a book that represents a fact about roses. You could use a book written by an author named Rose, a character with the name, or use a book with a rose on the cover. Here are some sites with facts about roses:

4.I Want Candy: June is Candy Month. Read a book that is related to candy in some manner. Here is a list of 50 different popular candies: http://content.usatoday.com/communiti...
5.I Dare You!: June 1st is Dare Day. It's a day in which a person dares either themselves or someone else to do something. You could represent this by reading a book in which someone takes part in a dare, or you could use a book with a title that sounds like a dare or has the word 'dare' in it's title or a character with the name.
6.Time for Doughnuts: The first Friday in June is National Doughnut/Donut Day. The day originated in WWI, when women volunteers with the Salvation Army served homecooked meals, including doughnuts fried in oil to servicemen. Read a book related to doughnuts in some way. 7.World Environment Day: June 5th is the day to focus on the important environmental issues. I would argue it is also a day to focus on how humans relate to the environment. Read a book that addresses either intention of the day. http://www.worldenvironmentday.global/
8.Hello, Summer!: June is the first month of the summer. Read a book that celebrates the beginning of summer.
9.Monkey Around Day: For this day on June 14th, have fun and relax. You can count any book you read on June 14th.
10.National Splurge Day!: June 18th is the day to indulge yourself. You can honor the purpose of this day by reading any book you want for this part of the challenge.
11.Father Figure: Father's Day is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of the month. Honor fathers by reading a book with a lead character who is a father or has a relationship to their father. Or any book that addresses the concept of fatherhood.
12.Your Choice: Choose one of the following holidays to read for this part of the challenge: National Pink Day, Swim a Lap Day, Forgiveness Day, Hug Holiday, Meteor day.
