Yes, because GR doesn't have genres. Members shelve books according to names they themselves devise.

Linking genres is indeed something superlibrarians can do. We have a couple who are good at this. I'm sure one will be along before too long.

From what I can tell from the librarian log for the Civil War Eastern Theater genre, the "parent_genre_shelf_id" has to be edited for linking genres. Is this something that only superlibrarians can do?

I could be confused, but why would we link Civil War with American Civil War. There are Civil Wars that are not American.

Agreed, civil war relates to more than the American civil war.

American Civil War could be a sub genres of Civil War.
