Ela | 4279 comments Who's with me???

message 2: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments Me, of course! I was just thinking that this thread also needed to be! Are we starting this tomorrow if the Stone people approve?

message 3: by Ela (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ela | 4279 comments Yes!

message 4: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments So we need to get the Stoners to make a decision!

message 5: by Ela (last edited May 31, 2017 01:36PM) (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ela | 4279 comments LOL, you do realize WE are part of that group?

message 6: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments Yes! But if WE decide, we'll say 'ya'll have to wait for us to finish this, and then we'll read Stone'. So they need to decide what they want to do, yes? Or do we want to say 'ya'll have to wait for us to finish Hot Ticket?' lol

message 7: by Ela (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ela | 4279 comments LMAO! That kinda sounded like the same thing!

message 8: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments Yeah, it did, didn't it? I guess I meant--do we let the others decide or do you and I tell ask them to wait for us?

message 9: by Ela (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ela | 4279 comments Now I'm conflicted...lol! That group is much bigger than us little ole selves....

message 10: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments So it's you, me, Lisa, Leslie, Tessa and maybe bev. Lisa suggested Friday and Leslie said whenever. Tessa hasn't said. I'm going to ask Tessa when she'd be free...

message 11: by Ela (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ela | 4279 comments Alrighty!

message 12: by Ela (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ela | 4279 comments How you liking this one? I'm conflicted, maybe I no longer like Rock Star books???

message 13: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments I was thinking, 'man are they immature!' but I need to get more into the story. Give me an hour and I'll be able to tell you...

Tessa | 1761 comments Ela. I read this years ago. I honestly liked it the least of the series. I like Jace but not his relationship with Aggie. So, no. It's the story, not rock star books.

Sed's story and Eric's story are my favorite. Sed's is hot, but it honestly makes me laugh, and Jessica is just fiesty and doesn't take crap from him. Eric's story is swoon worthy. It's by far the sweetest. Both Eric and Rebekah are so broken, Eric is absolutely silly with his humor, and the sex is probably the most "making love" of them all.

message 15: by Ela (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ela | 4279 comments I'm at 11% and as much as I like Dark reads this is just weird TO ME...

Tessa | 1761 comments That's what makes it weird. It's not a dark read. He just likes getting hit in the bedroom, but still be in control. :/

message 17: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments I'm at 15% and I'm ok with it so far--just have to accept that Jace is 'different'. I will say that now that I've gotten much pickier, the text doesn't flow as well as I remembered, but I can get over that. I did think it was funny/strange in the first sex scene that (view spoiler)

I still don't think it's bad or anything. As I read, I'm remembering each of the band member's characteristics or quirks, and that's helping.

One thing--I really don't want to read the word 'orifice' ever in a sex scene! But maybe that's just me! lol

message 18: by Ela (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ela | 4279 comments I'm at 23% and am still not feeling it, don't know why. If it's Tessa's theory or that I read the ending and am appalled!

message 19: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments Are you not feeling it because it's too weird or because it's just boring to you??

message 20: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2458 comments I'm lurking - and you guys aren't doing a grand job of selling this, LOL

message 21: by Nay (last edited Jun 01, 2017 01:11PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments I know, Lisa! I adored the first book and really enjoyed the second one all those years ago, and this one is just...I don't know. Like Ela said, Jace and Aggie are weird. And she keeps saying or professing to be one thing and then doing the total opposite, but maybe that's the point of the book and her relationship with Jace.

And the other guys in the band are just dicks, to Jace anyway. Makes it really hard for me to like them! But I think that's mainly because it's been so long since I learned about their personalities in the first two books. I need to remember that these books aren't supposed to be literary masterpieces (thank God for that! lol); they're supposed to be irreverent, and sometimes fun, while dealing with each individual band member's personal demons, which might not be so fun.

ETA: Forgot to mention that I'm at 32%

message 22: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 795 comments I'm lurking too - not too impressed by book 1 and book 3 looks like it is a bust..so think I will move on to something else!

message 23: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments Ela--am I reading correctly that you already read the ending?? And it shocked you??

message 24: by Nay (last edited Jun 01, 2017 01:14PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments Paula--what problem are you having with book 1? The writing? The way the guys are portrayed? Something else??

ETA: And do either of you know how old these guys are? How much younger Jace is than Eric??

message 25: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 795 comments I know these books are not supposed to be works of literary genius but just felt there was a lack of story - I started skimming. I guessed what was going to happen with the ex as soon as he was mentioned

message 26: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments There's isn't much character or plot development, is there? Book 3 just went right into everything with NO development at all. Maybe that's because this is a TRUE series where you really need to read from book 1 in order to get the full effect.

This was before the days of 'this is part of a series but it's totally a standalone!' lol

message 27: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2458 comments I generally don't like Rock Star Romances - not sure why, but they don't float my boat or pop my corn. So I think I probably will just lurk and see if you guys change your minds and it suddenly becomes OMG, you gotta read this!!

message 28: by Ela (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ela | 4279 comments Renee wrote: "Ela--am I reading correctly that you already read the ending?? And it shocked you??"

YUP! I WASN'T FEELING IT SO I DECIDED TO READ THE ENDING AND LET ME TELL YOU (view spoiler)

message 29: by Ela (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ela | 4279 comments Lisa wrote: "I generally don't like Rock Star Romances - not sure why, but they don't float my boat or pop my corn. So I think I probably will just lurk and see if you guys change your minds and it suddenly bec..."

OMG LISA YOU POPCORN WILL GET POPPED, YOU GOTTA READ THIS BOOK!

Nah just kidding....

Yes it's getting boring, don't care for the rockstar no character development and like you said Renee, I don't think it's really a "Standalone".

What ex Paula? Didn't get to that part and not sure I want to....

message 30: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments Ewww! But since I read the first part of book #5 before I decided to wait until the renumbered #3 and #4 came out, I probably knew that at one time but just forgot it.

What's bothering me is how immature these guys are (but I can adjust my mindset and my expectations and overlook that) and if I'm going to read a studly, smutty rock star or biker romance, I want an alpha, not a beta, and Jace is definitely a beta, so I also have to adjust my mindset for that.

Lisa--I typically enjoy biker books more than rock star books. There are exceptions--Paula is a rocker book aficionado, so if you ever do decide to try one out, she's your girl!

Ela--I see you're giving up at 43%. I'm going to at least get that far and decide what I'm going to do...

message 31: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments Ela--Paula was reading the first one.

message 32: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 795 comments That was in book 1 Ela. I thought I would start them as have the boxset but think I will stop after book 1. Now trawling my TBR to find my next book

message 33: by Ela (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ela | 4279 comments For some reason I thought you already got to book 3, why? I have no clue. I read book 5 and it was a 5 star at that time!

But yes, I prefer MC books to Rockers...

message 34: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments OK, I'm done, and I think I'm done with the Sinners!

message 35: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments I couldnt even get through first one. Too pornish for me. Instead of it being hot, it was a turn off. ☹

I "might" give it another try someday on audio only because my library has it.

As weird as it sounds, I often have totally different reactions to same story on ebook vs. audio.

message 36: by Ela (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ela | 4279 comments I must say that I have to agree and I'm really sad about that because when they were new out I loved them and then the long wait for releases happened and new authors.

message 37: by Ela (new) - rated it 2 stars

Nope, I totally get it! I sometimes or a lot of times I too have different reactions.

message 38: by Nay (last edited Jun 02, 2017 09:41AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments Eric really got on my nerves in this one, and I wondered why Jace allowed the things he did. Is that too spoilerish not to put in a tag??

message 39: by Ela (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ela | 4279 comments Nope, I didn't get the whole thing, why she did what she did and why she so needed it that she couldn't part with it....Eric was a douche and that druggie (name???)

message 40: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Aaahhh....if there are drugs involved, I don't like that in my books either. That may have been other reason I didnt like first book.

message 41: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments Jon! What a tool!

After the first book, I don't think the drugs were a huge part of any of the plots. It's just that Jon guy!

message 42: by Nay (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments Yeah, Eric reminded me of a goofy puppy panting to get 'in on the act'. Wasn't sexy to me at all!

message 43: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Thats the problem....if the "erotic" scenes turn you off, than its just icky and story is ruined. (at least for me)

message 44: by Nay (last edited Jun 02, 2017 09:40AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments I don't enjoy how 'familiar' they ALL are with each other and each other's mates. It's just not for me. I think I enjoyed them in the beginning because it was something new and rockstar books were just breaking out, but now, I have other options that fit my personal likes.

message 45: by Ela (new) - rated it 2 stars
