S.A. Stovall (sastovall) | 33 comments Hello everyone!

ABOUT ME
My name is SA Stovall, I live in California and this year (good ol 2017) will be the year my debut novel, Vice City, hits the shelves.

I grew up with a single mother and little brother. My biggest (and proudest) accomplishment in life is attending college, earning my BA in History, and then continuing on to law school where I graduated with a Juris Doctorate. I'm the first in my family to earn higher than a GED and I encourage anyone and everyone to aim for goals as high as they want, no matter their starting position in life.

I love writing fantasy, science fiction, and thrillers. I also love video games and table-top games (think DnD) and would consider myself a nerd in every regard. :p

I hope you guys enjoy my writing! Nothing feels better than entertaining a random individual with something you put a lot of effort into.

That being said, let me tell you about the projects I have done with DSP Publications and Dreamspinner Press!

S.A. Stovall (sastovall) | 33 comments My debut novel: Vice City
Release Date: June 20th 2017

It’s about a mobster leaving the mob during a turf war, yo

Description:
After twenty years as an enforcer for the Vice family mob, Nicholas Pierce shouldn’t bat an eye at seeing a guy get worked over and tossed in the river. But there’s something about the suspected police mole, Miles, which has Pierce second guessing himself. The kid is just trying to look out for his brother anyway he knows how, and the altruistic motive sparks an uncharacteristic act of mercy that involves Pierce taking Miles under his wing.

When Miles wants to repay Pierce for saving his life, Pierce shouldn’t see him as anything but a convenient hookup…. And he sure as hell shouldn’t get involved in Miles’s doomed quest to get his brother out of a rival street gang, the Cobras. He shouldn’t do a lot of things, but life on the streets isn’t about following the rules. Besides, he’s sick of being abused by the Vice family, especially Mr. Vice and his power-hungry goon of a son that treats his underlings like playthings.

So Pierce does the absolute last thing he should do if he wants to keep breathing—he decides to leave the Vice family in the middle of a turf war.

5/15/17 UPDATE: Vice City has a sequel slated for publication April 2018 - good news for any that enjoy the first novel in the series!

9/10/17 UPDATE: Vice City has received honorable mentions from the 2017 Rainbow Awards!

My debut novella: The Dusk Parlor

It’s about Japan and the yakuza

Description:
Former soldier Hugh Harris is a “hāfu”—half-Japanese, half-American—and, after his father’s death, he returns to Kobe, Japan, in order to connect with his mother and her family. Confused and feeling out of place, Hugh finds work as a waiter at an upscale nightclub. The other employees, an odd and eclectic bunch, quickly make him feel at home, especially the bartender, Ren, and the club host, Kaito.

But the tranquility doesn’t last forever. As Hugh gets deeper into his relationships with both men, he finds they may have dubious connections with the yakuza in town… and when the local street leaders send their enforcers to the Dusk Parlor, Hugh, Ren, and Kaito may be in for a storm of trouble.

Thirty-One Days and Legos
My Christmas novella!

Christmas Sequel

A Ranger Station Haven Christmas Novella

Park rangers Carter and Owen Williams have decided to expand their family and adopt two brothers—boys they rescued a year before when they tried to escape the foster system and flee to Canada. After completing their parenting classes, Carter, a reserved man who enjoys the simple life, swears he’ll be the best father possible. His patience is tested, however, when one brother adopts a cat out of the snowy Voyageurs National Park and the other brother refuses to talk about what’s bothering him.

Owen wants to make sure their first Christmas together is a special one, and he decides all of December should be a celebration. He has an activity planned for each of the thirty-one days, but none of them seem to go off without a hitch. The cat has fleas, the boys need to attend a court hearing, and Carter is more than a little overwhelmed.

But Carter is 100 percent determined to make his new family work. He just has no idea how….

Kragthang Congrats on the release of Vice City. Was pleased to find the DSP release mail in my inbox today.

Thanks for sharing your insights on tone in a book. I always wondered why some books feel different. Never thought about the way you phrase things. Will read more observant with this aspect in mind in the future :)

Thank you for the congrats! Definitely feeling giddy today. :3

And I'm glad the article was enlightening! I like passing on interesting knowledge (I moonlight as professor when not writing, lol). I'm going to try and write more in the future for websites like The Thrill Begins (or any place that will take me). Hopefully I can make crafting novels a not-so-confusing process. :D

Vice Enforcer
(Vice City #2)

description

Release Date: April 3rd 2018

Publisher: DSP Publications

Holding on to a life worth living can be hard when the nightmares of the past come knocking.

Eight months ago, Nicholas Pierce, ex-mob enforcer, faked his death and assumed a new identity to escape sadistic mob boss Jeremy Vice. With no contacts outside the underworld, Pierce finds work with a washed-up PI. It’s an easy enough gig—until investigating a human trafficking ring drags him back to his old stomping grounds.

Miles Devonport, Pierce’s partner, is top of his class at the police academy while single-handedly holding his family together. But when one lieutenant questions Pierce’s past and his involvement in the investigation, Miles must put his future on the line to keep Pierce’s secrets.

The situation becomes dire when it’s discovered the traffickers have connections to the Vice family. The lives of everyone Pierce cares about are in danger—not least of all his own, if Jeremy Vice learns he’s back from the dead. Pierce and Miles face a conspiracy that reaches the highest levels—one that will gladly destroy them to keep operating. As Pierce uses every dirty trick he learned from organized crime to protect the new life he’s building, he realizes that no matter how hard he tries, he might never escape his past.

But he’s not going down without a fight.

description

Release Date: Dec 1st 2018

Link: https://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/boo...

Description:
Photographer Zach is happy to pack up his gear and head to the Mojave Desert over the holidays. Ever since his ex-husband filed for divorce a day before Christmas, it’s safe to say this isn’t Zach’s favorite time of year.

Fortunately, he stumbles upon a town where the residents seem to agree. The good people of Baker would much rather celebrate the possibility of extraterrestrials as they dance under the stars in their unique “Night Sky Festival.” The locals are interesting, to say the least, and they want Zach to join them.

But is Zach ready to let go of his holiday bitterness? And if so, whose invitation should he accept: the cute cashier, the burly single dad, or the sexy fun-loving cop?

S.A. Stovall (sastovall) | 33 comments I also have lots of exciting news: my M/M romance about a UFC fighter and a quirky medical student is coming out in March!

M/M Romance series: Modern Gladiator

description

A prim and proper aspiring doctor and a destitute martial artist—both with hurts to comfort. Each with just the cure the other needs.

Corbin Friel hates mindless sports, especially fighting and boxing. As a medical student, he wants to help others, not watch them beat each other senseless. But his sister, Lala, can’t get enough of rough-and-tumble sporting events, and she drags her brother along whenever she can.

Keon Lynch doesn’t have much going for him. He’s broke, he lives alone in a new state, and he’s estranged from his family. But at least he has his dream—becoming a professional UFC fighter. Keon trains every day, and if he can just score a few more wins, he’ll get his ticket into the ranks of professional competitors.

But an unexplained pain jeopardizes Keon’s dream. During a backstage meet-in-greet, Corbin recognizes the telltale signs of a bone infection, which could cost Keon his leg. Unable to ignore Keon’s situation, Corbin begrudgingly decides to help. And while he gets to know Keon, finding him more desirable with each interaction, Corbin’s ex-boyfriend isn’t pleased with the development….

And he’s determined to keep Corbin for himself, no matter what.
