What do you make of the "turn" the novel takes after "Tod" arrives in Europe?

I think the turn when we hit Europe is that the message some events only make sense in a backwards world really applies.

The holocaust backwards makes a certain kind of sense the way it really occurs is beyond belief.

It was easier to understand the part from holocaust backwards as "we the reader" know what is really happening.

The mysteries of Tod are being filled in finally.
