Suggested break down of reading so that you can check in and let us know how you're doing. The following breakdown is purely a suggestion and is therefore not set in stone.

Rather than putting dates for each section I've done it so that it takes into account that not everybody will necessarily have the book at the same time.

I finished this book yesterday. I enjoyed it but it does seem to be awfully full of Christian allegory for a book written by an atheist.

I am having a little trouble figuring out the good guys from the bad guys. For example, (view spoiler)[Lord Asriel is supposed to be leading the war for the good guys but I didn't think he treated Lyra very well at the end of the first book (hide spoiler)]. And (view spoiler)[the Angels seem to be helping him but sometimes I find their behavior a little odd. (hide spoiler)]

Hopefully all my questions will be answered in the last book. I love Lyra as a character and my other favorite, Iorek Byrnison, is supposed to return in the last book. I so want an armored bear! :)

I've got one book to finish then I'm starting this one.

Finished this book. Love the witches, Lee Scoresby and Lyra. Love Mrs Coulter as a character. Missing the polar bears. I enjoy how there's so much going on and you never know where it's going. Philip Pullman has a lovely way of writing. Won't get round to the Amber Spyglass till August. Looking forward to finishing the series.
