SandyC (sandyc88) | 1117 comments I have played several times before.
I wonder if the Bonus items are per person or per team?

For example, do we earn one point if between the 6 of us, we read 3 books in a series, or only if one person reads 3 books in a series? (I suppose I should check out the FAQ) :-)

I've played twice before. It's been enjoyable for me - and I don't participate in very many team challenges because I don't read as fast as others and don't want to hold a team up. But this game, one book a week, is very doable for me. Plus I have so many series books going that I can usually find something to fit the callout pretty easily. I think (and hope) you have a good experience :)

Broken Soul (Jane Yellowrock, #8) by Faith Hunter
Book: Broken Soul by Faith Hunter
Pages: 351
Date Read: 6/4/17
How it fits: #8 of Jane Yellowrock
Rating: 4 stars

As usual, Jane has her hands full in this installment. More like overflowing, really! There's the backlash from what happened in the last book with Leo and Bruiser, the upcoming European Council visit that comes with it's own garbage to deal with, her search for magical artifacts, the security upgrades, and on and on! There is never a dull moment in these books.

With everything she has to deal with, Leo is STILL keeping so many secrets from Jane and it almost gets her killed. AGAIN! Grrr! However, she at least deals him a very much deserved ass kicking that made me smile. It wasn't funny but it was long overdue. She also comes into more power with her and Beast and she uses it frequently. I can't wait to see more of this kind of thing! And she finally starts to move on from a certain love interest to another that I've been rooting for. He's not perfect and they have issues to deal with but it's better than the alternative, imo.

All in all, another action packed book that keeps me wanting more.

Sneeuwval Sneeuwval by Tess Gerritsen
Author: Tess Gerritsen
Read: 4/6/2017
Pages: 320 p.
How it fits: #8 in the Rizzoli & Isles
Rating: 4 stars
Review: I have read a few books from Tess Gerritsen, so I expected this one to be like the others: a nice read, but nothing special.
However, this book really surprised me. A lot of things happened and there was plenty of suspense. Also, the book gives little clues on what is really going on. Just as the MC you are in the dark, trying to figure out what and who can be trusted.
This atmosphere is kept well through the book. The end, that came as a surprise was a bit disappointing. I really would have loved another culprit to blame.
So while the book was very enjoyable, at the end, things went a bit too quick, and some questions weren't answered.
However, I think it is a great read and can be recommended to fans of psychological thrillers and anyone who likes a good read.

Rating and Review: 4 stars
While this is not nearly my favorite book in this series, I really enjoyed it. The audiobooks are really well done and I love Shannon Stacey's humor and writing style. These books just work really well for me. Matt and Hailey made me laugh and aww and just have a generally enjoyable ride. The differences in their personalities made it fun to watch them work their way to a HEA. My biggest complaint is that as a Kowalski book, there is very little of the clan present. Guess that is to be expected when neither MC is a family member.

The Forgotten Affairs Of Youth (Isabel Dalhousie, #8) by Alexander McCall Smith
How it fits: 8th in series
Read: 6/6/17
Rating: ★★★

Review: This installment is short on plot and long on philosophical musings by the protagonist, Isabel Dalhousie. (Well, she is a philosopher, after all.) I just didn't like her that much. She came off as smug, judgmental, and condescending, especially where her niece is concerned. On the other hand, I think she has a good heart and really wants to make the world a better place for her young son.(view spoiler)
