Double Won

I like The Justice League or Double Won for a team name. Anyone want to be captain? The roll is at midnight CDT on Fridays. I am EDT so I am not usually awake at that time. I don't mind being captain if someone else can roll then or if we can wait until later Friday morning for the roll.
ETA: I sent jingles a PM. I just noticed she signed up as an alternate so I'm not sure if she wanted to play from the start.

Lots of first timers! I've played the last couple of rounds. I love it! I won't be awake for the roll either so I'm fine with rolling later.

Wow...I signed up as an alternate, and here I am!! I'm super excited about the game. I played once or twice before and really enjoyed it, so I'm looking forward to playing again.
Thanks for letting me be part of your team!

Let me know jingles response as I have 3 backup players that I can add one to your team to replace Jingles if she doesn't want to play right now

Ok, I will be reading The Dragon Finds Forever- Kristen Painter. It is #7 in her Nocturne Falls series and has 348 pages.

I did something right? And the world didn't end? Maybe I should go without sleep more often?......Nah!

Sam - you are so funny! I wouldn't go without my sleep either.

How it fits: Charley Davidson #7
Review: I really enjoy this series - Charley is just so very sassy =) And it cracks me up how she names everything. By this point in the series everything is getting pretty dire. The 12 hounds of hell are after her, and she has a bun in the oven (as she puts it). I'm glad I don't have to wait for her to write the next book, as the ending of this one makes me anxious :)

How it fits: Nocturne Falls #7
Review: I always enjoy Nocturne Falls where it is Halloween all year round in order to hide the supernaturals who are living there. Ivan is a dragon shifter MMA fighter who got injured in his last fight and decided to retire. Monalisa is a Will O' The Wisp under the control of her leprechaun father who is sent to convince Ivan to fight one more time and she is instructed to use any means necessary (especially her powers which can control anyone). However, Monalisa begins to fall in love with Ivan and vice versa. It was fun to see how their friends worked together to help them out of their tight spot and find their HEA. Lightweight, fluffy romance which is just what I needed.

Book: The Last Cowboy in Texas|Katie Lane|06.08.17|✿✿
Task: 7th in Series = Deep in the Heart of Texas #7
Pages: 328
Brief Review:
This was a torture for me to finish. It had been a long time since I'd read the previous book in the series, so I was kind of lost in the beginning and had to do a quick re-check of the previous book where these two main characters were introduced.
I didn't like the characters. Neither seemed real. They didn't seem to fit each other. Added to that was the element of confusion of Starlet's interaction with Beckett's brother, Beau.
The story started off well enough, but I quickly lost interest, and had to force myself to finish it.
I hate that it ends on this note, but I'm glad to put this series behind me.
A weak 2 star read for me.

Roll #1 ~ Spot 7
How it fits: Bound Hearts #7
Shameless by Lora Leigh 6/7/17
Rating: 3 stars
Pages: 151
Review:
Each book in this series is a standalone, which is great when you want a bit of kink with a storyline. ;-)
Ian & Dane were always best friends. Dane's daughter, Courtney, grew up infatuated with Ian and now decided it was time to make him hers. She knew she could match his sexual urges and actually craved them. She just needed to convince him of that.
I loved how strong Courtney was and so sure of herself. She knew what she wanted and went for it head on. Ian's sexual appetites are not for innocents and he didn't want to ruin Courtney. He did his best to keep her at bay, but in the end, he surrendered his heart to her as she surrendered her body to him.

Task #7 in a series

by Laurell K Hamilton
Date finished: 6/8/17
Rating: 4 stars
Pages: 452
How it fits: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #7
Review:
Despite what Goodreads says, this is probably the bazillionth time I've read this book. I used to do this thing where when a new book in the series was released, I would go back and reread all the prior books. I have since stopped this with this series. But I've also lost where I stopped reading them. So I decided to just reread from the beginning with the intentions of getting caught up.
Burnt Offerings is number 7 in the life of Anita Blake and by now we mostly know her and the main players (Jean-Claude, Richard, Dolph, Ronnie, etc...). The book jumps right in with Anita being asked to help find a firebug loose in the city. While committing to this, she hasn't yet realized that the Council has arrived and they aren't happy with whatever her and Jean-Claude are setting up in St Louis. The shit hits the fan, needless to say, and our triumvirate are forever changed.
I've seen some of the other reviews on this one and there is one part I have to agree on. This book was really busy. Had Hamilton chosen to just focus on the fires or just the Council, I think the book may have flowed better and not been so compacted. Like I don't think Anita slept once, unless she was knocked out.
Another thing I'm noticing now that I'm rereading these at an older age than when I started is just how much Anita kind of annoys me. Her whole view of how she can't possibly be good because of all the bad things and good girls don't have premarital sex with vampires and blah blah blah. Girl, own your shit. You're a sexual being and there's nothing wrong with that. Also, the way she treats other females is really lacking. She's often like, yay another female around and then promptly finds a way to dehumanize them. There's a way to write a strong female character without putting all of the others down.
So why did I rate this four stars? All the other characters who aren't Anita, for one. Even when I read this years ago, I remember Anita not being my favorite. What held my interest was Jason, Richard, Jean-Claude, Jason, Stephan, oh, did I mention Jason? The background/side characters are so rich and witty and just fun. I love getting to know all of them again.
And then there is the cunning of the plots. Yes, they are busy and sometimes convoluted. But more often than not, I have an 'oh shit!' moment where either I figure something major out or I had just been fooled and I love it. So while it may not be the best vampire hunter series out there, it fits for me.

Book: Fired Up (Arcane Society, #7)
Date Read: 6/8/17
Rating: ★★★★
Pages: 433
This book was another enjoyable installment in the Arcane Society series. Chloe Harper is a private investigator who is hired to find a family heirloom known as the burning lamp by Jack Winters. Chloe has a gift for finding things and she can read dreamlight which helps her track the lamp. Jack believes he is falling victim to the Winters family curse and only the lamp can help him. I really liked the characters and their journey to fall in love along the way. The Arcane Society world is very interesting and keeps me coming back for more. Alternating between historical and contemporary settings in each book is entertaining to me. I especially liked seeing more of Fallon Jones in this one. I cannot wait for his story.
