Cait S Hey everyone! Checking in, can't wait to get started!

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 461 comments Hey Linda and Carmen....Death Star Unite.

Hi Cait. Totally love this from your profile...Super basics: I'm Cait, I'm 27 and I read whatever I CAN FIT INTO ALL MY 900 READING CHALLENGES.

I So hear you on that 900 challenges.

message 9: by Cait S (new)

Cait S Lol Thanks! It's my standard answer instead of favorite genre. I'll read anything...as long as I can fit it into one or two of my ongoing challenges. Can't help signing up for a million at a time.

I know. I must be crazy.

I had a private group to track challenges, but that started to not be enough and went to spreadsheet. Which was good, but it was hard to see what was up and coming up. So now I'm trying the app Todoist out. I like that I can add task for all the challenges and assign them due dates. The individual not timed ones I can set out a week so they show up as "current" but easily move them if I don't happen to have a book that I read for a team challenge that works. Going back and setting it up for all the challenge already in motion has been slow, but it is coming along nicely.

What have others found to be good for them?

Better watch out Carmen, she might lead me to more challenge to sign us up for :)

message 14: by Cait S (new)

Cait S I just keep a folder of links saved on my toolbar that take me to all my comments within challenges. I usually pick one "Main" challenge at a time where I'm picking books specifically for that challenge. Then I adjust the order of the links so the challenges that can also be filled by the Main challenge's book are near the top.

I used to do spreadsheets and such but found this way was easier for me to do without getting overwhelmed :)

message 15: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 370 comments I also do a bunch of challenges but so far I just have a shelf where I put the books that I have to read. Left to right in order of my highest priority. I do a bunch of moving around but it seems to work.

message 16: by Elena (new)

Elena | 205 comments Hello everyone! Checking in too. Ton of series to continue and even more to start, very excited! Carmen, Plethora, great to see you, guys, again!!

I'm only doing one other challenge right now, looks like I'm outnumbered here :)

message 18: by Joyce (new)

Joyce (eternity21) | 575 comments Hi Everybody

Hi my name is Joyce and I am addicted to challenges.....

I've tried a few ways to keep track but ended up the old fashioned way ...Pen and notebook. I also use a calendar app on my computer and phone. I like the idea of the todoist app.

message 19: by Plethora (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 461 comments I just recently found todoist. But I like that it is available for my Windows Phone, my android tablet and from the web. It is also available for I products and has capabilities to integrate into your calendar if you want.

So mass adding of task I do from my laptop. But I can easily view anywhere and add quick add a project for adding the task later if I sign-up for a challenge on the go.

Carmen has been benefiting from the app since we collaborate with each other. So as I add task for myself I add her one as well.

message 20: by Plethora (last edited May 27, 2017 09:56PM) (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 461 comments As for pen and paper...I never seem to have the same notebook handy when I've tried that. I was trying a paper planner, but it was so hard to fill in all the year long challenges that it makes it hard to keep up with being able to post progress on them because I have to go back and search what I've read when I finally remember to update.

So with the app I can add a comment with the book right away to remind me for when I post.

Hi Elena and yes I agree with Plethora, you may be the sane one. LOL

message 23: by Cait S (new)

Cait S So does anyone have any interest in being captain? Might as well work that out early so we are ready to go :D

I've done it a handful of times before but this time I've got a newborn in one arm constantly so probably better for someone else to steer the ship haha

message 24: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 370 comments Not really interested in being Captain. Hope someone else is!

message 25: by Elena (new)

Elena | 205 comments I can give captainship a try unless someone else is willing (speak up! :)) but I only played this game once a couple of years back, might have a few questions :).

We'll also need a team name, right?

message 26: by Cait S (new)

Cait S Yeah, we'll need a name too :)

Thanks for volunteering! If you need any help with it, just let me know. When I captained the teams, I just had a format that I filled in each week. Was super easy and kept it neat so I could see who had checked in with their books/reviews and who we needed still.

So whose stepping up to be Boss?

message 28: by Plethora (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 461 comments Looks like Elena.

I know Carmen has some RL stuff going on or she would. And I'm super busy still through June. But both of us can lend you a hand Elena.

message 29: by Elena (new)

Elena | 205 comments Thank you, Cait and Plethora (and Carmen :))!

I'm not very good at making up names so Google to the rescue! :) A couple of ideas (I know they don't have to be associated with #10 I just like it) -
Count to Ten - kinda game related
Top Ten
TENacious
Good (or Bad) InTENtions
- or one of other billion words with TEN as a part of it

Does anyone else have anything in mind? Do share!

Those names are really good

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 447 comments All I can come up with is

Supernaturally Tenacious

Thanks for taking the captainship Elena. As Plethora said super RL issues and I don't want to mess the team up but I'll make sure to keep up my readings, promise. Plethora will make sure of it ;)

message 32: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 370 comments Thanks, Elena, for being Captain

How about Tenacious Six, since there are 6 of us?

message 33: by Joyce (new)

Joyce (eternity21) | 575 comments How about
10 to midnight
I'm going to be in and out because of work I can usually always find something to fit into a challenge but have too much in real life to be captain, but I'm a great follower

message 34: by Joyce (new)

Joyce (eternity21) | 575 comments How about 10 to midnight

Sorry I am traveling for work right now till early next week. I really won't be able to be captain with my work time constraints. But I can always find something to fit into my challenges as I have a huuuugge TBR pile LOL

message 35: by Joyce (new)

Joyce (eternity21) | 575 comments Unfortunately due to work commitments I cannot be captain but I can always find something to fit into a challenge as I have a huge TBR pile.

How about
10 to midnight as a name all the others sound great too

Cait S I know it's not a huge number but I was kind of hoping for a 4. I actually had a book sitting here that I've been saving just in case we got it.

So I'll be reading Tricked (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #4) by Kevin Hearne , #4 in the Iron Druid series :D

message 45: by Elena (new)

Elena | 205 comments Thanks, Plethora!

Cait, I have the same book lined up for #4! It's been a while since I read #3 but I really enjoyed the series so far, will be interesting to compare notes. :)

And it looks like we are "TENacious", right? :)

message 46: by Cait S (new)

Cait S Yup, I think that's the name!

I usually drag my series out for like years but I've been flying through Iron Druid. It's awesome.

roll#1 4
Book read: Darkest Hour by Meg Cabot
finished 6/4/2017
this is book 4 in the series.
Rating 5 stars
Review: This is the best book of the series so far. Jessie (Hector) fiancé from when he was alive is threatening Suze when her step father and brother turn up old letters from Maria to Hector. Suze is stuck babysitting for the summer at the local resort that her stepbrother works at. She meets other mediators and is mentoring a young mediator.

message 50: by Cait S (new)

Cait S Joyce, you'll need to rate and review the book here on the thread as well. Without a review it's not considered complete for game purposes and we won't be able to roll again without everyone turning theirs in :)
