Collusion
Read: August 4
Rating: 3,5 stars

Review
It took some time for me to really get into this series. The first book was a bit so so, and the beginning of this one the same. Then it changed. I got invested in the story and in the characters and I can't wait to find out more. Sure the there are still flaws, but like the MC's everything is a work in progress.

Review:
I really enjoyed this story that was something quite different from what I expected. On the "surface" it's a very good thriller/mystery with a story that keeps you hooked and turning the pages (I read it in 1 day!), but once you get into the story you realise it's about so much more: how single events can stay with you forever and even determine the path of your life. Friendship as well as both the love and dysfunction of family relationships. And books :)
Highly recommended!

Daughter of the Blood (The Black Jewels Trilogy, #1) by Anne Bishop
Daughter of the Blood
Read: August 6
Rating: 1 star

Review:
...soo, this was not really what I expected.... and unfortunately not in a good way. I found the book to be too jumpy, switching back and forth between so many characters and places it was at times difficult to keep track. But the main reason why I did not like this book is because I intensely dislike reading about worlds where rape, torture and whatnot is the norm and even expected, where it is a form of entertainment for the masses.
That's just not for me. So thank you, but no thank you.

Book: The Merchant of Death (Pendragon, #1) by D.J. MacHale
Rating: 2 stars
Date read: 8/6/17
How it fits: Pendragon #1

It's possible I might have liked this more if I read it when I was younger, but somehow I doubt it. I felt like the author was constantly rehashing events as a reminder for the reader, even if it only happened a couple of pages ago. The main plot line revolves around a really stupid mistake the MC makes, which he was blatantly warned against in the beginning. It just seemed really dumbed down. I think even as a kid I would have felt like I was being talked down to. A lot of things felt a little bit too convenient for my liking too...

The characters were all extremely flat and I didn't really care for any of them, with the possible exception of Mark but he's pretty minor in the scheme of things.

It's a bit disappointing because the premise for this series is so good and I have been wanting to get to them for years. I feel a bit let down. I may continue with the series just to see what happens, but I won't be in a hurry to get to it.

A Kiss at Midnight
Completed: 8/06
Rating: ★★★★
Review: I've always enjoyed Eloisa James. This book was good though frustrating at times. I liked the banter between the MCs. I was happy that Kate's real identity came out pretty early on and Gabriel was okay with that. Authors usually wait until last minute to use the "real identity" as the drama at the end. One MC feels betrayed for being "lied" to etc etc. I'm glad that wasn't the route Ms James went in this book.

This book just made me feel eehh, it was like sort of enjoyable but it was very slow and just kind of boring.
There wasn't really a plot and it was kind of confusing, so it was dissapointing.

I fininshed it but I didn't feel like all them feels or something and the ending was also very meehh.
It was just boring and I hope that the other John Green books are going to be way better than this one...

Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices, #1) by Cassandra Clare by Cassandra Clare
Read: 09/08/2017
Rated: 4.5 stars
Review: I really enjoyed this first book as I thought I would. I really like that I feel at home when I read books set in this world. I have been reading them since the first installment in the Immortal Instruments.
I love the whole Blackthorne family and that every one of them had his own quirks and characteristics that set him apart. I loved the story and that we could see the characters from the previous books. I am still not sure about Emma and Julian though. We will see how that will turn out
Overall, I really enjoyed the book and won't be long before I read the next one.

The Art of Breathing (Bear, Otter, and the Kid, #3) by T.J. Klune
The Art of Breathing
Read: August 11
Rating: 4,5 stars
How it fits: BOATK #3

Review:
This book spans the entire length of Ty's and Dom's relationship, from the first moment they met. We watch them grow up, stumble and fall. Watch them break, but also heal and grow stronger. We see them through some intense earthquakes that threaten their very foundation but we also see them rise much farther than we ever anticipated.

The family ties are as strong as they ever were. It's the core of this series. Some have been lost, others gained along they way.(And can I just add that I'm a huge fan of Kori/Corey, and can't wait for their book). Everyone flawed in their own way, but they are still there for one another, no matter what, no questions asked, no change required. And the love they all share is very tangible, it's deep, it's strong and it's forever.

The Art of Breathing is by far the angstiest book in the series. It will gut you at times, it will make you cry, laugh and by the end you're left just a little bit drained from the intensity of it all. That being said, I'm going to jump right into the last book in the series, and I have a feeling that is not going to be a cake-walk either. I'm strangely looking forward to more awkward family dinners at the Thompson house, with Bear around they are inevitable

I really enjoyed this story! It's such a fun romp with love, adventure, highway men, pirates, a European tour and a mystery. And all at the same time, it manages to deal intelligently with sexuality, race and gender discrimination in the 18th century (and thereby also today)...

Highly recommended as a fun, fast-paced adventure story with a strong heart! Looking forward to the next book.

4,5 out of 5 Stars

I really enjoyed this series, it was so much fun and it was a really nice distopian. The only downside was James, he was such a pain in the ass. He was an asshole and just a dick. This annoyed me very much.

The ending was great, (view spoiler) Juliette and Kenji were my faves, Kenji's humour was great. I laughed a lot and he was just perfect.

Juliette had such a great character development during the story, she finally can be her true self which is refreshing.

Warren was also very interesting, I disliked him so much in the beginning of the series but he developed very well. You started to feel for him and that was very nice.

James is just adorable and lovely and he's just very cute.

I also listened to a part of the audiobook, which was nice. Juliettes voice was a little annoying though.

Review: I don't know what keeps me reading this series. I started it for a challenge a while back and just keep reading it even though it's not a favorite of mine. It reads quickly.
One thing I like in this series is how real it feels. They have real issues and it is really relatable. However, in this book, Alex and Miranda's relationship felt so fake, sudden and unreal that it just annoyed me to no end.
I will probably read the forth book sometimes, however this series will never be one of my favorite.
