"Makoto Kowata, a novice witch, packs up her belongings (including her black cat familiar) and moves in with her distant cousins in rural Aomori Prefecture, in the far north reaches of Japan, to complete her training and become a full-fledged witch"

Flying Witch is one of our summer reads. Discuss here!

This one looks really interesting. :) I'll have to put in a request from the library.

I'm also very interested. My first impression just from the premise and cover is a Someday's Dreamers vibe. Slice of life with magic type of thing. Whether it ends up being in that vein or not it should be fun.

Read volume 1. Thought it was a little slow, even for slice of life, but Makoto is a likable lead, the world is interesting, and the supporting cast solid. Great end too, introducing a fun new character.

And tone/atmosphere does in fact feel like a mix of Someday's Dreamers and Yotsuba to me.

I just read volume 1. I like the slow pace. I think it makes what would otherwise be a surreal premise (training to be a witch) seem really grounded.
