Fairly self-explanatory. Read a book with a cover that fits the description. Some covers may overlap, but try not to reuse books in the same challenge. Whether the cover matches the description or not is really up to you.

Just timing Kieron.

Hahaha. I am a challenge addict. Bill and I need to seriously start a Challenges Anonymous Group.

Niki and Margret, I always leave the hardest ones to last though. I did think when I finished Red Seas Under Red Skies, thank goodness that cover had a boat on it, because I wouldn't often read a book with a boat on the cover.

Haha that's fortunate! I'm worried about the rainbow cover, but it wasn't on the original list, so I did it to myself lol. Tammy has hers already (harrumph).

Tammie | 3838 comments Good job Angela! Niki that rainbow cover thing was definitely a nice coincidence. I doubt I'll get lucky with some of the others :)

You could try The Cobra Event, it's a good book. I read it a long time ago though.

message 39: by Ann (new)

Ann (ann_davies) | 166 comments I loved the first few Cork O'Conner mysteries, but I fell away from the series because I got tired of waiting for them to be published. I'll check how I actually got in the series and add to my reading list.

I like mysteries and mysteries set in the upper Great Lakes are even better!

How did you like this one?

message 40: by Angela, I'm Silverfox lost (new)

Angela | 3517 comments Mod
5/5 Ann. I love this series. I'm doing one book in the series per month in another group and had never heard of the Cork O'Connor series until it was picked as the series for this year. I'm so glad it was given how much I've loved it. It's not a series I would ever think to pick for myself either.

Hope you enjoy the series when you get back to it. I find them quite quick to read.

I want to start the Longmire series The Cold Dish when I finish Cork O'Connor. What mystery series have you enjoyed set in the upper Great Lakes? I've really enjoyed the landscape Krueger has been able to bring into his novels.

message 41: by Ann (new)

Ann (ann_davies) | 166 comments A few of Nevada Barr's mysteries are. They are all in national parks and all are good. Upper mid-west: Two on Isle Royal and one in Boundary Waters. Superior Death is one of my all time favorites -- there is a bit suspense and drama too -- there is almost always a moment where I'm scared.

I seem to recall a female author similar to Krueger but I can't recall her.

Thanks for the recommendation Ann. It sounds really good. I've added the first in the series to my TBR.

I will do Ann. I usually try to give a series a couple of books to get going.

Thanks for the friend request. :-)

message 49: by Kieron (new)

Kieron The only one I have as a possibility is The Obelisk Gate (The Broken Earth, #2) by N.K. Jemisin although I wasn't blown away by the 1st book and I am not sure I want to continue the series.

That's a good choice Kieron. I'll let you know if I think of a pink book. I probably need to have a good look through my books.
