Bill | 2130 comments Got my first one done with Knife of Dreams which has not one but three men on the cover.

Working on book 2 Dragonflight which has a big dragon and a tiny little woman.

message 3: by Bill (new)

Bill | 2130 comments Been able to sneak most of my recent reads onto the list somewhere. Going to be harder once I start having to go for specific ones.

Wow - you're further along than I thought. Great job Bill! I'm just waiting for when the challenge really begins when we're down to like 5 or 6 haha.

message 5: by Bill (new)

Bill | 2130 comments Yeah that's when it really gets tough.

Haha very true.

Great work Bill. I do note it looks like it might be the book cover colours that are going to be hardest.

message 7: by Bill (new)

Bill | 2130 comments Pink might be the last one standing. Might have to do a Mercedes Lackey 80's book. Think I remember most of those being pink or purple.

message 8: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 3882 comments You just need to read a romance. Lots of those are pink ;)

Aren't you doing Jhereg? I think the Alta combo is pink. ;)

I think you should recommend a romance for Bill to read ;-).

Bill needs a super gushy romance in his life obviously... isn't there some kind of YA insta-love or even love triangle-y book that's pink?

message 18: by Margret, Caladan Brood Face (new)

Margret | 3170 comments Mod
That cover is cheese-tastic

message 19: by Bill (new)

Bill | 2130 comments Her book covers made me not read female fantasy authors during my later teen years. I mean imagine having to carry that thing around with you.

Niki Hawkes - The Obsessive Bookseller | 7025 comments Mod
Those covers put me off her too. If not for dragon jousters I may have never tried her.

message 21: by Bill (new)

Bill | 2130 comments I did the Arrows trilogy a few years back. Got the kindle omnibus for 1.99 or probably wouldn't have tried her myself.

message 22: by Margret, Caladan Brood Face (new)

Margret | 3170 comments Mod
I love cheesy covers, won't lie..

message 23: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 3882 comments Wow that cover... I think that one would count as pink, or maybe even rainbow.

message 24: by Angus (new)

Angus | 152 comments That cover is amazing! Gotta love the cheese

message 25: by Bill (last edited Jun 21, 2017 06:39AM) (new)

Bill | 2130 comments She has a bunch more. For me she has always been the epitome of 80s cheese covers.

message 26: by Bill (last edited Jul 14, 2017 05:14PM) (new)

Bill | 2130 comments Added Feet of Clay (Discworld, #19) by Terry Pratchett for my magical creature which is an Ogre.

Also added The Sword of Shannara (The Original Shannara Trilogy #1) by Terry Brooks for red cover. I have another cover in my currently reading since the red cover is missing page count.

message 27: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 3882 comments Nice! You're knocking these out pretty fast.

message 28: by Bill (new)

Bill | 2130 comments Just working out with what I'm reading. Going to be harder once I need to start hunting covers out.

Of course, like every other challenge, you're killing it. :)

message 30: by Kieron (new)

Kieron Wow, didn't realize you were progressing so fast Bill. Great work. I may have to read a few more Discworld books in the near future, they look good for the colour covers.

Thanks Jenna.

Kieron wrote: "Wow, didn't realize you were progressing so fast Bill. Great work. I may have to read a few more Discworld books in the near future, they look good for the colour covers."

Discworld works really well for a variety of covers. I have some with the older covers then my library has all the ones with solid background colors. So as I mix and match my way through the series from different sources I am hitting a lot of the cover boxes.

message 32: by Bill (new)

Bill | 2130 comments Finished Curse of Chalion for cover with a bird. 21 down. Working on Treason's Shore for cover with the authors name in the biggest font.

message 33: by Bill (last edited Aug 21, 2017 05:11PM) (new)

You're remaining covers aren't ambiguous enough. :)

Saar The Book owl | 1899 comments I've seen that you read Within the Sanctuary of Wings. What did you found of it? It has been for a couple of weeks on my TBR - read pile.

There are some nice covers in your list!

Bill | 2130 comments Scott wrote: "You're remaining covers aren't ambiguous enough. :)"

I'm having trouble finding a cover with a crown so thinking any old hat will do.

It is a really good finish to the series. If you have read the rest of the series you know what you are in for.

Margret wrote: "I just read that in Cosca's voice. Am I hallucinating?"

Cosca would have said, "You've got it all wrong mate, a bloody cap is as good as any crown. Unless of course you melt the crown down and sell it to buy some wine."

Margret | 3170 comments Mod
I'm sure you have some sort of American accent in real life but now all I'm hearing is Nicomo Scottsca

message 42: by Bill (new)

Bill | 2130 comments Lol. I really need to reread First Law. In all seriousness though I need some crown recommendations.

Emperor of Thorns

message 44: by Ann (new)

Ann (ann_davies) | 166 comments I don't have a definitive plan for crown either. "The Queen's Poisoner" was on my "to read" and has a tiny little crown icon on it. I think I got this as a "Kindle First" selection; so I don't know if its any good or not.

As a back up plan, I did a Google search for ... book covers crown images ... some sound interesting, but I don't have any first-hand knowledge of these: The Tainted Crown, Three Dark Crowns

Is using "The Crown Tower" too much of a reach ... no crown on the cover, but it's in the title? I'm new here and haven't figure out if Scott is demonstrating exemplary behavior or an outlier

message 49: by Bill (new)

Bill | 2130 comments Finally found a crown cover. In the Hogfather cover I have in the bottom left corner is a Santa looking guy with a crown. Took me months to find a cover with a crown.

Hogfather (Discworld, #20) by Terry Pratchett

message 50: by Bill (last edited Sep 23, 2017 09:18PM) (new)

Bill | 2130 comments Currently reading my metallic cover with Three Hearts and Three Lions by Poul Anderson and my pink cover with The White Dragon by Anne McCaffrey. Will only have orange and green covers to go.

Edit: pink done. 3 to go.
