Clay put his life on the line for Stevie several times and hung in there waiting for her to reciprocate his feelings. When he decided to finally walk away from her, was it a long time coming or should he have given her more time to resolve her own feelings?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 818 comments The heart loves as the heart wants. Clay was a man who loved deeply and he loved Stevie. Realizing that Stevie may never love him back was really tough. It was only when Clay decided that Stevie was not going to love him that she finally woke up and realized that she could loose someone who really, truly loved her.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1379 comments I think Clay had given Stevie all the time he could bear by the two-year point.

I agree, Charlene. It served as her wake up call. Once he walked away, she no longer had her safety net and that made her seriously consider a life without Clay.
