description

The winner of the game will be whoever has collected the most stamps in their passport. The game will end once all of the stamps are collected or whenever the players decide to end it. There is no time restriction on this game.

roll two dice

Monopoly Rules
• One person volunteers to track which cities' stamps have been collected.
• Each player starts at GO, moving around the board clockwise.
• You do not need to wait for the other player(s) to finish reading before you take your next turn. As soon as you're done reading, go ahead and roll.
• All books must be 150 pages, except the 'Just Visiting' requirement.
• When you land on a city, read 1 book (or the 2 optional books) to get the passport stamp.
• If you land on a city whose passport stamp has already been collected, read 1 book related to that space.
• When you roll, post your starting spot, the roll, and your new spot on the board.
• When you finish your book, post the spot you're on, book name, rating, when it was finished, and a short review of the book. If you were supposed to read a book that had a specific element, mention that in the review.

'Chance' and 'Here & Now' – If you land on one of those spots, roll the dice a second time, “pull” the corresponding card, and then do whatever the card says.

To be 'set' in a country, the main character needs to be there for at least 1/3 of the book. Because it might be difficult to find a book set in some of these countries,

Maddison wrote: "I'll cross of that card now."

There is no need to keep track of cards. There is no rule saying that a card is out of play because it has been used. This is different from the original Monopoly game.

Review: I really enjoyed this book and I enjoyed reading about Anne Frank's life. It made me rethink of what we take for granted here in the U.S. All Anne Frank wanted to do was live like everybody else but she couldn't since she was a Jew and in the end she had to die in a concentration camp. Anyway, I'm glad I read this book.

Jacquelyn Simon (jacquelynrose94) | 25 comments Keep in mind that Manhattan is an island as well as Ireland. So unless it specifies tropical, those could work?

message 32: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3585 comments Oh yeah true. Could NZ count as an island :p

message 33: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3585 comments This game isn't very specific, so we just go with what we want :p We could also read Catching Fire, as that arena's an island.

message 34: by Jacquelyn (new)

Jacquelyn Simon (jacquelynrose94) | 25 comments Maddison wrote: "Oh yeah true. Could NZ count as an island :p"
Lol, yeah NZ is an island as well. It's a lot easier than they make it sound.

message 35: by Maria Jo (new)

Maria Jo Maddison, I feel like a lot of places could count as an island. I think North America could count as an island if you really wanted it to. Merriam-Webster definition:

"a piece of land surrounded by water."

message 36: by Jacquelyn (new)

Jacquelyn Simon (jacquelynrose94) | 25 comments North America isn't considered an island.

Jacquelyn Simon (jacquelynrose94) | 25 comments Chance Completed
The Woman in Cabin 10
Task: read a book with a window on the cover
How it fits: There is a very large window on the cover.
Date read: 5/30/17
Rating: 3 stars
Review: I'm somewhat disappointed because I thought this book was going to be at least 4 stars, given that I really enjoyed the first half of the book. But when it finally came to Lo realizing what had really happened... it just felt short and unprepared. I like to think of myself as a proficient mystery reader, so when she experienced her "Ah-Ha!" moment of realization... I felt her conclusion was a stretch from what we were meant to believe and the "twist" just seemed rushed. Which brings me to my next point, the pacing. There were several parts in the book that either felt too rushed or went by too slowly.
It may not seem like I like this book but I did like it, just not as much as I was hoping I would've.
