I was very, very eager to read Nicola Yoon's The Sun Is Also a Star and then was somewhat disappointed by it. It just wasn't the book for me. So, with slight hesitation I read her Everything, Everything and liked it so much that I did not want to stop reading it.
This book sucked me in and I sat and read it in 2 settings (that pesky thing called work interrupted the progress)Beautifully written.
The outcome was expected on my part. however the development of our Maddy is heart wrenching.
Also I'm always proud of a fellow islander making a mark in the world of literature!
LOVE this book! The characters develop beautifully and it is a real story. Looking for a little assistance as recently had a parent go a little off the deep end about the 'titillating graphic sex' worried that her daughter 'and I'm worried about all the other poor children' who will 'become promiscuous' after reading...sigh. Yes, this really happened. I explained, supported her opinion as hers, but held to my belief that this is an important YA text. Anyone else? I've prepared a number of links to support my library in case admin gets involved, but hoping for more support here.

Book first then mo..."Like you, Seira, I hold onto my version of the characters; they just seem "truer" to me, if that makes any sense. I haven't finished the book yet, but that will happen soon. I first saw the cover last June, peeking down from a top shelf; I read the cover's hook and immediately put it in my TBR pile. If I see the movie, it will be later, at home, on the small screen. Adaptations seem less disappointing to me this way. Good luck with your decision!
