20.3 - Best Review - Paul's task: General Turkey

When summer comes around, so do the jam band festivals. One of the best jam bands today is Hypnotic Clambake. Have a listen to General Turkey
They hold an outdoor music festival each summer in upstate New York.

So, while you are listening to your favorite jam band, or attending one of the many summer music festivals across the country, you can be reading a book for this task !

Read one book of at least 250 pages with a title/subtitle that contains one or more words of at least four letters that can be made from the letters in HYPNOTIC CLAMBAKE.

You may only use a letter as many times as it appears in the band name. For example, you may use CLAM but not CLAMMY.

Here are some examples of books that work for this task:

Dave Barry Talks Back (285 pages, contains the word BACK in the title). hypnotic ClAmBaKe

On the Beach (296 pages, contains the word BEACH in the title) HypnotiC clAmBakE

NOTE: ebooks without print versions cannot be used for tasks requiring a specific number of pages. If you read an ebook or listen to an audiobook, use the page count for the mass market paperback if one exists. If there is no mass market paperback edition, use the paperback edition and if no paperback is available use the hardcover edition.

Required: State the word from the title/subtitle that you used.

The only edition I saw is 300+ pages, so this is good. Funny that I mentioned "On the Beach" in the task, which is also a Nevil Shute book. What are the odds ? :-)

Paul | 327 comments Marwa wrote: "Would Ptolemy's Gate work for this task?"

No. There is no complete word in the title that you could make out of the band name (Hypnotic Clambake).

Because there is no "S" in the band name, that effectively rules out possessives (such as 'Ptolemy's).

And GATE is missing the G.

Paul | 327 comments Deana wrote: "Do names count?

Yes, this works. Colin is a word in the title, and there are no restrictions on using a name. The book is 336 pages, which exceeds the minimum 250 pages.

MiA (mirhershelf) | 117 comments No possessives. Got it. Thanks, Paul.

message 25: by Karen (new)

Karen Will this work? The Scarlet Pimpernelwith "Scarlet."

message 26: by Paul (new)

Paul | 327 comments No, Karen, that will not work.

You have to be able to make the complete word that you select from the title (using only the letters in HYPNOTIC CLAMBAKE).

For "Scarlet", you are missing the "S" and the "R", which do not appear in HYPNOTIC CLAMBAKE.

message 27: by Karen (new)

Karen The directions were kind of hard to comprehend. I took it to mean only 4 letters of a word were needed. Thank you. I will keep scavenging around for one that fits.

The Black Echo by Michael Connelly (with the word Black or Echo)

No Second Chance With the word: Chance.
