Booksmarks on a kindle paperwhite

What Kindle do you have? On my Paperwhite 3 with the newest firmware (your mileage may vary), I touch the upper right corner of a page while reading. The "flag" icon (as you call it, I think it's a stylized bookmark) then pops up in the upper right corner, with the page number and a + icon. Touching + creates a bookmark. The "flag" is then permanently in the top right corner of that page.I can browse my bookmarks by touching the upper part of a page to bring up the main Kindle menu, and then pressing the bookmarks icon (looks like two bookmarks on top of each other) shows me all bookmarks.
Oh, I get it. I assumed the + meant a bookmark has been created, I didn't know you have to tab twice for something to happen. That explains why I couldn't find the bookmarks again.
Thanks, that helped a lot. :)

I've been having my kindle for a year or so, and for the live of me, I can't figure out how to use bookmarks.
I assume that when I click on the small flag icon on the right that I'm creating a bookmark for the page, right?
So, how can I got back to the bookmarks I created?
Is there any way to see on the page, that I bookmarked it?
I've had a Tolino before the kindle (still have it, actually), and bookmarks are so much more intuitive on that device then on the kindle.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
