Meg Reid | 19 comments Better to leave than be left behind. I learned this lesson before I started first grade from the backseat of my grandma's Buick as we drove away from the shack in the mountain as we sought to leave my dad and all his anger in our past. It was inevitable when I found myself 24 and married to a perfectly good but wrong-for-me man, there was nothing to stop me from moving on. Turns out that walking out on my marriage was the first step in a journey of self-discovery that would heal the wounds of my broken childhood, teach me to take risks and trust myself and lead me to a purposeful life. My path, while not logical or well thought out, in a round about way took me to law school and back to marriage and family, now as a different person having found my own form of the feminist American dream.

Thanks in advance! I'm happy to return the favor!

Sentences are kind of long and intricate so sometimes I lose the thread...
But it's late so maybe my brain is fried,
