When DCI Erika Foster comes back to work after a longer absence, there is no slow easing back into things. Without much introduction to her new team, she is thrust right into the middle of a case fraught with political tangles and resentment by some members of the team. This difficult environment and an interesting set of characters give this book an authentic feel, though at times the motivations of some of the actors are not fully clear.

I agree and gave it four stars too. I'm going to try another book in the series since it has lots of potential.
