It's time again!

- Nominations will be open for 24 hours and during that time we will take in as many nominations as possible.
- After 24 hours, 8 books from each genre will be chosen at random from the selection.
- Only ONE nomination per person (EITHER sci-fi OR fantasy)
- No books nominated last month may be re-nominated for March, instead you must wait until April to nominate them again. A book counts as "nominated" when it made it to the polls. If it was suggested, but not picked for the polls, it can be entered again. You can see the polls here
- If books are part of a series, they must be the first, unless the group has already read the previous book(s)
- No authors nominating their own works
- No self-published or ebook only books
- Here are our previous group reads if you're unsure!
- Book nominations may be seconded in place of a suggestion, but this will count as your choice for the month. Seconded books will receive an additional chance of being selected in the randomisation process.

This post was created at 9am EST on Weds Feb 1st, therefore it will remain open until 9am GMT on Thurs Feb 2nd, unless the mods feel there are not enough nominations. If this is the case, the polls will remain open a further 24 hours.

I think so too. But I'm not sure, though the premise sounds promising. :)

message 22: by Ryan (new)

Ryan It does. I just bowed to peer pressure the other day and bought it.

message 23: by LittleBookDruid (new)

LittleBookDruid | 89 comments Haha, I'm bowing to the premise though. Planning to buy it once my textbooks are sorted out. ☹️

message 26: by Frank (new)

Frank (synapse001) I enjoyed reading "We are Legion, We are Bob". It was entertaining and humorous. A decent blend of science, fiction, comedy, and character.

No problem, it has a lot to do with it being available to everyone as we have members from around the globe, that and the quality of self-published books is very hit or miss.

LittleBookDruid | 89 comments Yeah, that's true. So can I nominate something else

This is book 2 in a series that we have not read as a group, we would need to read Bowl of Heaven before we can nominate this one.

Mark wrote: "At the risk of causing trouble ... since the best book I read last year was self-published ... why no self-published books?"

Mark, this has been our rule since we started, we are a fairly international group and not everyone will have access to the same self-published books. Also, while there are some amazingly written self-published books out there, there are also a ton of self-published books that are garbage so, instead of having to weed through the suggestions to find the gems we have the rule. There are many groups out there on goodreads that read self-published books, but we are not one of them.

Ryan I dare say the self published book in question is close to being picked up by a traditional publisher anyway.
