Amberjack (amberjackpub) | 37 comments Hello,

On Goodreads, we have a couple of titles that are listed as having 2 editions, with 2 different covers. However, the difference between them is the cover for the ARC vs. the cover for the final copy. Is it possible to remove the ARC options and just have the single final copy edition? (I hope that made sense.)

The titles that this applies to are Fever Tree by Tim Applegate, here is a link to the final copy cover,
https://amberjackpublishing.com/books...

The Tale of the Dancing Slaughter Horse by Victoria Shade. The cover is the same on both of them, but it says that there are 2 editions, where it should only be 1. Could these be combined? It should be the one that has "A Memoir" at the end.

The French Impressionist by Rebecca Bischoff. Here is a link to the final copy cover,
https://amberjackpublishing.com/books...

The Girl From Old Nichol by Betty Annand. Here is a link to the final cover,

Thank you so much for your help! I appreciate everything you do! Please let me know if you need any other information

For future requests, please provide the Goodreads links. It helps ever so much. :-)

Fever Tree — 3 editions in the database: Kindle, paperback, and ebook. The paperback has the old cover. Did any copies go out with the old cover? This would include Advance Reader Copies, whether print or electronic, if they included the cover.

The Tale of the Dancing Slaughter Horse — There are 4 legitimate editions: Kindle, paperback, ebook, and ARC. The ARC copy is a valid copy and will remain. Goodreads policy is to keep all published covers on the site, as readers want to shelve the cover of the copy they have. One of the editions was off by itself, so I combined it with the others, and I added the missing ebook (details from WorldCat and Amberjack).

The French Impressionist — 3 editions in the database: Kindle, paperback, and ebook. The paperback has the old cover. Did any copies go out with the old cover? This would include Advance Reader Copies, whether print or electronic, if they included the cover.

The Girl From Old Nichol — 3 editions in the database: Kindle, paperback, and ebook. I added the missing cover for the ebook edition from the Amberjack website. The paperback edition has the old cover. Did any copies go out with the old cover? This would include Advance Reader Copies, whether print or electronic, if they included the cover.

After you let us know whether the preliminary covers were distributed, we will be able to get the final covers in place.

Dobby (dobby0390) | 3504 comments Thanks so much for the information.

Goodreads handles the ARC-to-published-edition differently from other cover changes. This is one of the rare instances where we move the ISBN from one edition to another — in this case, from an ARC to the final published edition. This enables readers to shelf the edition — or editions — that they have read.

These are the ARC editions:

»  Fever Tree
»  The French Impressionist
»  The Girl From Old Nichol

These are the final published editions, with the new covers as well as the ISBN numbers.

»  Fever Tree
»  The French Impressionist
»  The Girl From Old Nichol

The individual authors might want to change the default editions from the ARC to the published editions. Here's how they would do that.
