Centers around a couple of high school kids . The boy, peter, plays football. His parents are wealthy. The girls name I don't remember. They have a baby girl they name Kate, after Peter;s mother. Which softens her attitude about her son;s teenage marriage. Peter has a mental breakdown towards the end of the book
