ooh! Never thought of Never, Never!!!! LOL

@Stacey
HEY LADIES! So excited to be together on this new venture! And I'm excited to meet all of our team and get to know everyone better!
I'm usually on my iPhone except at night, so I apologize if I don't reply right away... I wish they would fix that darn app!

I'm 26 and live in Northern Virginia. I do shift work and currently work nights, which is why I'm on goodreads at odd hours. But, I should..."
*just snooping around*
I agree Victoria. The first book had some issues, but I was cool to overlook them, but the 2nd book just dived. I couldn't bring myself to pick up another

That's pretty high praise! You'll have a lot to live up to Teddie, but no pressure, lol

Am I right in, that the book must meet one requirement from each card 0 to 9? If so I will read it.
Also, can anyone explain why a Wild Draw Four is worth 30 points when it requires "Read Any Book"? I must be missing something, right?

Am I right in, that the book must meet one requirement from each card 0 to..."
Yes, The wild is the highest point card at 30, I believe that may be because there are less of those cards in a deck.
But I think to fulfill that card's requirement you only have to read one book fitting any of 0-9's requirements. Not all of them. Did that answer your question?
Anyone else have input about our Wild card?

The deck consists of 108 cards, of which there are twenty-five of each color (red, green, blue, and yellow), each color having two of each rank except zero. The ranks in each color are zero to nine, "Skip", "Draw Two", and "Reverse" (the last three being "action cards"). In addition, the deck contains four each of "Wild" and "Wild Draw Four" cards.
But it looks like we got all of the Wild cards ~ 8... are we just lucky?

Am I right in, that the book must meet one requirement f..."
The Wild Card task can be hit with any book that satisfies the requirements for cards 1 - 9.
The Wild Draw Four is absolutely anything. We'll focus on fulfilling the tasks for the Hands that have Wild/Wild Draw Four cards to get the maximum 30 point cards. We'll also focus on the hands that have Draw Two cards, as with one book we (in essence) take care of 3 cards, so fill the hand faster.
If you Friend each other, you can also see whether a teammate has already read a book you want to read - we can use those books for the Reverse cards.
If you decide on the next book you want to read, post it to the planning sheet or to the thread, indicating what it will work for, and we'll go from there. Once we start allocating books to cards, and also get a read on reading paces, we'll have a better idea of specifics re: what's needed toward the last week or so of the month.
I like to leave a little room for flexibility - can be a huge benefit at the end of the month. Also, if they are going to throw mini-challenges at us, it will be good to have a little leeway as well.

Am I right in, that the book must meet one requirement f..."
Thanks. I was going to read a ( group read) from one of my other groups. It's a baseball book with tons of character/players names for example. So...it will surely meet at least one requirement from each of the 0-9 cards.

Teddie, I haven't started adding any books to the list yet. But just to clarify, we cannot actually start reading them until Feb 1st? Is that correct? Such a tease, to have those pretty cards and not be able to start our books ;) lol!

Perfect!
Gold star for anyone who finds a book that meets ALL the card tasks ;)

You can't say I didn't warn you.

Good job getting the book on the Spreadsheet!
Also, please check off ALL options for the book, so for example put an X under 1 and K or P, because the book starts with an O, and the Author's surname starts with P. You will also find character names will fit in other cards. and so on...
And Date will be CR, even though we know you aren't yet reading it. The date is the date you complete the book.
I'll put the x's there, so you can see.
This way we are more flexible when adding the cards to the other tab sheet. It shows us (captain and co-captain) all of our options when entering the BONES spreadsheet for points.

I'm sorry, we must be doing the sheet at the same time. lol I'll stop. Thanks for your help.

No problem! you did fine... cannot complain for thoroughness!!! It's usually the case of not enough info. Good job :)

Yes, Feb 1st :) If you are wondering wrt your time zone, here's a UNO Countdown clock.

Just as a reminder, you need to (by the end of the month) have the hands filled in order to get points. So, for example, let's say you have hands 1,2,3,8,12 filled at the end of the month. Then you could only get points for hands 1,2,3.
You can read them in whatever order you want, it is just at the end of the month you will only get points for hands filled in order.
I hope that makes sense?

I hope that makes sense? "
Yes - thanks for the reminder Karen!
So Team Bones: if we have to, we can only skip 1 Hand a month.

Does that even make sense?? haha....

Hey Shamber! welcome :) I'm not too far from you, only a bit SE of Dallas
First, you can only use the book you start reading on Feb 1st. Any you have read or are currently reading cannot be used.
For a collection, I believe if the books are also single novels greater than 100 pages, you can list them individually.
So, if I'm correct you can use The Horse and His Boy because it's 224 pages.
Let's see if Teddie agrees, or has something to add....

Hi Shamber!
Everything looks right to me. In fact, the Narnia books are a series so you could also use the number of each book.

Archaeology sounds like a fascinating career! And it's a subject I wish I knew more about. I am also envious of your 9-5 schedule since I mostly do shift work :/

Hmm, I've been meaning to check out Michael Connelly. I may have to move his books up on my tbr.

I never did all my intro stuff--so here goes. I live in Raleigh, NC where we are having lovely non-winter weather right now. I am a physical therapist at an area trauma center, so reading lets me get away from the serious stuff I see most of the day. I am mostly a PNR, UF, romance reader, but will and have read and enjoyed just about anything.
Because of my unfortunate challenge addiction, I can't really say what I'll be reading next week yet--it depends on what shelf/category I need for other challenges! As soon as I know, I will get my books listed. :)

I LOVE him, and Amazon has created a series from his books/main character (which I also enjoy). As of a few years ago I had read all of his books but have quickly fallen behind. He puts out a book like every year. It's crazy. I own many of his early books. We could always do a book swap if you wanted. :) Let me know if you do start reading anything. I'd love to get more opinions.

I really like Connelly's books too! You may want to try Robert Crais' Elvis Cole / Joe Pike / Scott James & Maggie books - I've never read a bad one. Lee Child's Jack Reacher books are also good, as are Dennis Lehane's Kenzie and Gennaro books.

Hi Elizabeth! An archaeologist - so interesting! If you can say, what are you working on / studying right now? I love how. as our technology advances, we are able to tease more about our past from the earth - constantly sharpening and sometimes reframing history. Very cool.
If you have a book or 2 in mind that you want to start reading on Feb 1st, add it to the planning sheet when you are ready!

Both sound cool! My parents have been researching and writing a book on the Underground Railroad in the NE, especially along the Niagara River.

Q: What are the 1 - 3 best books you read in 2016?

Q: What are the 1 - 3 best books you read in 2016?
1.

2.

3.

My question is twofold :
Who is your favorite author & your favorite book by them ?

@Elizabeth - both those projects sound really cool!
I will add a couple of books to the spreadsheet, but for the most part I'm going to hold off adding books. I will only end up changing them...

-hmm, I guess I'm mostly excited about continuing on with my current urban-fantasy/pnr obsession.
Next Question: What book surprised you the most last year (ie. what book did you not think you'd enjoy much, but loved OR what book did you think you'd love, but ended up hating)?
(alright, that's probably not the best formed question...)

This is fun! My answer is to: What book surprised you the most last year - what book did you think you'd love, but ended up hating? Well, I loved Conn Iggulden's Rome series and liked his Khan series. I also love the Tudor dynasty. So when I heard Iggulden wrote a series on the Tudor dynasty I thought, match made in heaven. Right? Wrong! I barely finished the first book Stormbird and didn't feel invested. I picked up the second book and could not finish. I would put it down and had no real interest in reading it. So when it was due at the library I just returned it and moved on. I was sad it was a flop for me.
Next Question: What book can you read over and over or do you come back to every so often?

Every few years I reread The Lord of the Rings trilogy - The Silmarillion every other time I do this. I also like rereading The Fionavar Tapestry, some favorite Dick Francis books, Kate Daniels, and The Last Time I Was Me for the occasional comfort read with a smile.
new question: If you were having a dinner party and could invite 6 of your favorite book characters, who would get the invites?

@Elizabeth - both those projects sound really cool!

Great! Yes, I'm thinking everyone can enter the just the next book up on the sheet - that way people can change their minds about what they want to read.

Great question! Off the top of my head, I would invite Reyes from

Next Question: If you could live/take part in any story book world, what book or series would you want to be part of?

I Love these choices! I've had the Finishing School series on my TBR for ages - I'll definitely read that first one for this challenge now :)

Happy to be participating in Uno again! I had a blast doing it last year.
So, a little about me: I'm 25 living in Central NY. Professionally, amongst other things I'm a book reviewer. I work with a team of 3 other people to review pretty much every genre. I spend a good portion of my day either working on my website or reading. And, when I'm not doing either of those I work for a bookstore as well. Talk about an addiction (haha).
I'll read nearly anything that looks good, but I'm usually drawn to YA Fantasy. I've recently dived back into the audiobook game as well, just to make absolutely sure that I get enough books in my life.
Here's my shelf for this years game:
Uno 2017
Looking forward to having a great game with you guys!
