WOW!! That is a tough question. I gave them both a 5 star rating. They both held my attention to the very end. They both gave me new thoughts and insights on the second world war. They both had elements of redemption, second chances, hope in the midst of devastation and hopelessness for individuals and relationships. I think that I would tend to recommend The Nightingale to more people, as I believe it is easier for more people to relate to and get into. But I personally LOVED both books!

I love to hear all the different opinions - and am always a little surprised that most people seem to prefer The Nightingale. I am looking forward to having this discussion in our book club on the 24th, especially since we only just discussed All the Light We Cannot See last month. For me it was no contest: I much preferred Anthony Doerr's book.
