For some reason I thought I posted (must be losing my mind). Anyways, I'm going to read Daughter of Smoke & Bone. I'll come back later to add it's shelf location.

I couldn't wait to read book 4 and it was AMAZING!! So then I dove right into book 5 and it is my new favorite...I loved Dmitri and Honor but there was just something about Jason and Mahiya that stole my heart!! I have book 6 but think I might wait to see if it will work for this week's bingo...I want to let books 4 and 5 settle in my mind for a bit. SO GOOD!!!

That's really good to hear. Like I said earlier, Books 4&5 were my favorite and I think I am current on the series.
I loved that twist with Dmitri & Honor, Loved it. But I also loved Jason and Mahiya's story because it was different from the rest. Nalini Singh is a detailed writer

I was disappointed with this last book. The first couple of books were so engaging, full of angst but now I felt strung along for a long time and some of my questions were still not addressed.
The Royals are sort of the town pariah right now, with the murder charge still shining a negative light on the Royals and more specifically Reed. I never doubted that Reed and Ella would figure out how to keep their relationship afloat. I knew the Royals would end up on top but i wanted to know who was getting the best of them and why. I also like the ceasefire with Jordan, but I would have liked to know that Jordan was turning over a new leaf in general.
Questions still unanswered. (view spoiler)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

For all the dislike I have for YA books in general, there is a reason I continue to read the genre; and it's for gems like this. The writing was great full of interesting worlds and characters.
The MC Karou lives a double life. In one, she is a high school art student in Prague and in the other she runs errands for Brimstone, her chimera ("monster" like people with a combo of human and animal features) adoptive father. On these errands she has to visit the shop where he creates wishes through a magical doorway, which has portals all over the world. In the shop, there is another door to Elsewhere, that she is not allowed to enter.
Karou is pretty bad ass. She has blue hair and travels around the world collecting teeth; including human from a grave robber in Marakesh and elephant tusks from a black market in Paris. She then brings them back to Brimstone who uses them for unknown purposes.
Meanwhile, there is Akiva, an angel like being bent on destroying the doorways to Brimstones shop. He is the sexy love interest who, despite his war with Brimstone and other Chimera, is incredibly sweet and adorable.
There is a bit too much insta-love for me to truly get on board the romance. However, Karou and Akiva had a few almost fights to the death when they first met to make up for it.
Overall, great story and writing. The audio narration was also very good and I am excited to continue on with the series!

Review: I think I would have enjoyed this book more if it happened after another Elena/Raphael story but it suffered a bit after having had Dmitri/Honor and Jason/Mahiya books in between. I really like Elena and as I learn more about Raphael, my enjoyment of his character is also increasing. BUT, Raphael just isn't as approachable or knowable, a fact that is increasingly evident after really getting to know Dmitri and Jason so deeply in books 4 and 5.
There were also so many things happening in this book, all of them handled rather deftly, that it was hard to focus on the characters as the plot sometimes got in the way. Nalini Singh is a master world builder and while what happens in this book makes the word intense seem like an understatement, the fact that so very much was happening didn't keep me glued to the edge of my seat as I would have expected, but splintered my attention towards the tenseness of just what else could be thrown at Raphael, Elena and all the beloved characters who call NYC home.
Without going into spoilers, the ending to this one had some shades of deux ex machina to it and while I know having questions going forward is the norm in this series, I would have appreciated more details in this book to explain what is actually happening in Raphael's latest evolution. The lack of details made it a weird combination of too pat and too flimsy all in one for me to really be satisfied with how things concluded.
Despite my issues this this particular series entry, I am still looking forward to reading more in the guild hunter universe and am VERY happy that Ash and her Cajun vampire are up next!! And then Naasir? He is definitely an intriguing character that I would enjoy getting to know more about. I also hope that the next Elena/Raphael entry can be a bit more focused without quite so very many story threads pulling my attention from their rather fascinating relationship.
Real life has been a pain in the patootie this week. My mom had a really bad episode of sleeplessness. We went about 60 hours with only 3 hours of sleep. I am listening to my Favorite Series book and should be finished by tomorrow. I'll post my reviews soon. Sorry to hold up a stamp. :-/

I wished the guy on top of me would hurry up because I was getting bored.
Georgina Is a centuries old succubus that must steal the life force from humans in order to survive. She is secretly involved with Seth, a very good human, with whom she cannot have a sexual relationship without shortening his life. Very vivid domestic dreams are stealing her energy soon after she "fills" up.
Jerome, Seattle's demon in charge and Georgina's boss, calls a meeting of the area supernatural to introduce a new succubus that Georgina must mentor. Needless to say, Georgina is not thrilled. A gathering of angels creates an air of suspicion that does not bode well for the city.
It had been a while since I read the previous book in the series but I was able to fall back into the storyline very quickly. This book created so many different emotions. I chuckled over the continued references to Carter, an angel, burning down Georgina's Christmas tree and Tawny's complete ineptness at being a succubus. And oh how I cried! What the what?!? Seth and Georgina's relationship has so many ups and downs. The dreams are heartbreaking. So much unrequited love that it just makes you ache.
The dreams are disturbing enough that Georgina visits a dream interpreter that is much more than he seems. I'm not sure how I feel about Dante. He comes across as obnoxious and egotistical. I'm not sure where the storyline is going with him.
We learn more about Georgina's background and her life before Niphon bought her soul. This information helps us gain insight into what makes Georgina tick.
Georgina's attempt to take employee, Maddie under her wing demonstrates her goodness even if she can't see it. This plays heavily in the storyline towards the end of the book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book even with the heart wrenching sobbing it produced. I look forward to reading the next installment.

Rating & Review: ✰. Ugh!
This series is an archaic New Species by Laurann Dohner. It's still more erotica and lacking in actual plot.
Taber and his mate Roni have known each other for most of Roni's life because Taber always came to Roni's rescue when her drunkard dad abused her. Taber and Roni made love and mated without them realizing that Taber marked her.
Then the dreaded misunderstanding occurs and Taber leaves Roni. The issue is resolved early in the book because Roni is in a mating frenzy and she needs Taber, her mate.
So we get sex, sex and more sex. I can't continue with this series as the writing is bad, plot is so elementary, and its just much sex. i don't even enjoy New Species as much as I used to even though that one has a much better plot. I tried but this series is 2 and out for me.
Ezi, I was surprised when I saw what you were gonna be reading. Didn't think you'd like em. I enjoyed them but then I read them many years ago, well before LD wrote NS.

She has good days and not so good days. We were doing pretty good and then she had a couple of sleepless nights again. I've started trying to go to bed when she does but I simply cannot go to sleep at 9pm! Last night she was ready for bed at 6:30pm. She has an appointment with a neurologist in a couple of weeks. I hope that gives us some answers. Thank you so much for asking!
I hope you guys find out that there is a reasonable explanation with a reasonable cure. That's just so hard. I'm sorry for the stress as I can just imagine what you must be dealing with

Review:
This is one of my favorites in the series. In fact, the series has really improved overtime.
To begin with it included some of my favorite characters in the form of Michael, Nicodemus, Marcone & goonies, Kincaid, Ivy the Archive, Queen Mad, etc. Yes, I realize some of these characters are evil. It also includes Dresden's classic sarcasm (I happen to love sarcasm) and the usual plot.
Ah, I said usual plot. I wouldn't call each Dresden book unique. In fact, most of his books follow a standard plot: Harry gets hired/tasked to uncover some mystery, multiple supernatural entities try to kill him, Harry defends a woman's honor, Harry is poor, things get bad, than worse, there's hope, shit its the fan, and finally Harry nearly dies saving the day.
I think I missed a few points, but you get the picture. But, despite it being a similar formula to previous books, it works. It's the journey that counts after all and the story weaved throughout these plot points was great. It's hard to touch on the actually storyline without giving to much away, but it was one of my favorites. There was also a mashup of a lot of different characters from the Dresden universe which played out very well. It can be difficult to combine so many important characters in one fast paced story, but it worked even if he couldn't spend as much time as I would have liked on certain characters.
I also loved the continuation of the Black Council story arc. I love the overarching storyline that connects each book. But, I do hope something more will happen with that soon.
Lastly, my favorite quote of Harry with someone trying to kill him:
"likest thou a jelly donut?"
Harry: "Nay, but prithee, with sprinkles 'pon it instead," I said solemnly, "and frosting of white"
*sigh, I really am behind on things - I'll choose a vampire book in the morning. @Moondance - I hope your mom is doing better! I can't imagine how difficult that would be, but your mom is lucky to have you around.

Thank you, Victoria. I had to take mom to the hospital yesterday afternoon. She finally got into a room at 9 last night. Just got her settled and they did a CT scan of her head at 11. Bloodwork at 3 am and now we are waiting on an echocardiogram. Between my mom and sister we have been in this hospital's ER 5 times and hospitalized 3 times in the last 5 months. We've decided that we need a punch card like Subway uses!
It's just crazy how that happens. Been there done that with my mum & MIL. Wishing you all the best Cheryl!!!!!
