Ok- So last year we added in the "Character names", which I really loved and wanted to keep for this year's challenge. So all of the info is the same below, however I'm making one little tweak which will hopefully make it easier and that is that the word can be anywhere in the title of the book, not just the first word of the title. It is the same with the author's name - either first or last ( or middle) as well as the character's name can be either his first or last ( or middle ) name.

From January 1, 2017- December 31, 2017 please post your titles from A-Z, or your authors from A-Z or if you've done this for the last few years, mix things up and go for character names A-Z!! ( A few members suggested this one)

It looks like this:

Authors level-- Listed alphabetically by author. Commit to 26 books.
Titles level -- Listed alphabetically by title. Commit to 26 books.
Character's names level- -Listed alphabetically Commit to 26 books

Any combination of the 2 level- Commit to 52 books

Or you can go for the big kahuna and do this....

Authors & Titles and character's names level --> Commit to reading 78 books ( that's the level for the speed readers in the group)

Here's the rule that might make you not like me...- no crossovers- meaning you can't use 1 book and use the author, character and title - only 1 book counts per category.

***Note the goal is to hit all the titles A-Z (and or authors), not necessarily to read them in order- sometimes you can't get a title from the library for a while so we need to allow ourselves some grace here ;)

You can post one of two ways- either a complete list ahead of time that you are aiming towards or a read and post as you go kind of thing. And yes, you are allowed to change your mind and substitute titles as you go if you "pre-do" your list.

Remember- please respond with an "I'm in" and the level you would like to go for. You can either track this through this thread or through the reading tracker that has been set up for this challenge- see link below.

And here is the reading tracker link for this one-

Oh boy, let's see who is feeling ambitious again this year!

(Liene) (lieniitte) | 48 comments I'm in for titles. I've tried this before but failed with letters like K, X etc., so maybe it will be easier if the second or third word of a title can start with that letter! :) Have wanted to actually complete one of these A-Z things! :)

Edit: So, I think I'll actually try for character names and for titles!

Bonny (bonnybonnybeth) | 1147 comments So last year I really let this one rule my reading habits, so this year I'm gonna scale back and stick to just 26 books for the traditional titles A-Z. That'll give me more time for the other challenges!

I thought about changing to characters, too. Especially because the book I'm currently reading has a Zac as one of the main I'm tempted to do characters instead. :D

The Ringmaster's Wife would actually still work for R because of the character Rosamund

Remember Beth that the word can be anywhere in the Title this time around not just the first word. But I totally understand. I'm doing all 3 categories but have to use books I own or on Kindle. I have to make that my main focus this year.

Amanda G. Stevens (amandagstevens) | 99 comments This looks really fun! I'm going to do character names and for now just read the books I would be reading anyway ;) and see how far I get. But I'm pretty sure I'm going to be ignoring X.

If I could use the book I'm writing, I would have a Zac for Z... ;)

I decided to character names after all. I've done Title every time, so it feels good to switch it up. If I was more certain of my reading time, I'd do characters and titles, but I think for this year, what with school and all, I won't add that extra pressure. ;)

Loraine (librarydiva) | 5127 comments Mod
Remember that it is WACKY ABC - Therefore, the X word can be any where in the title or the first or last name could begin with X for a character or author.

Andrea - titles
Xanadu by Jane Yolen (children's book)
The Xibalba Murders by Lyn Hamilton (I read it last year and if you like archaeology it's good)
X by Sue Grafton (adult mystery)
The X-ed out X-ray by Ron Roy (children's mystery)

Hannah - characters (I think Cheryl said that the x could be anywhere since it is so hard but hopefully she will verify that).
Dorothy Gilman has a wonderful mystery series (a lot like Agatha Christy) and the main character is Mrs. Polifax.

Loraine, thank you for those suggestions on X titles. I was keeping in mind that the letter could start any of the words, but I haven't had the opportunity to check titles at my library yet. However, I really like the sound of The Xibalba Murders, so I may see if they have that one in particular rather than just cruising the fiction or non-fiction aisles and searching for an X word. :) Archaeology has been fascinating since I saw Jurassic Park in theaters back in 1994. If Sam Neill and Laura Dern can make it look cool, then it's worth checking into, right? Lol. Not to mention Indiana Jones...

I love archeology so any books that include that usually interest me. I've always wanted to visit the Egyptian Pyramids after reading about the excavations at King Tut's tomb. And yes Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones are favorites!

Oh, and I love the Lara Croft movies. I'm interested to see how the Alicia Vikander version will compare to Angelina Jolie's.

Have you had an opportunity to visit the Pyramids or other archaeological sites? I imagine they are amazing, though the weather might be hot, at least in some cases.

We visited the Mayan ruins in Mexico, the cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde National Park and some ruins in Ireland. Wish we could have seen more but our traveling stopped when Cliff's back started up 4 1/2 years ago, and it looks like we won't get to do any more.

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 2275 comments Someone around here needs to tackle the task of writing a series about an X character...a long series! Wish list for titles would be something like this...hmmm, Christian cozy mystery?? "Xena Investigates" or "Xena's Adventures" or "Xena Solves a Disappearance".... That would take care of title and character. ;)
