Since I finished 2001: A Space Odyssey I have really been at a loss at to where to go next. I would consider the book to be categorised at 'heavy sci fi' with minimal character focus, which I really love. I'm not interested in relationships and character depth, but moreso the sci fi elements being extended focal points.
I have read a LOT of Arthur C Clarke and really would like to branch out into other sci fi. I have tried the classics such as Dune, Neuromancer, Ender's Game, Hyperion, Salughterhouse 5 and I just can't take to any of them and give up within a few chapters.
I recently started read my first Asimov book ('the gods themselves') and adored it, however I have struggled with the robot series. I'm currently a chapter into 'I, Robot' and can't say I look forward to going to read it.
Can anyone please recommend something for me please?

How about Phillip K Dick? If you are into sci-fi with minimal character focus, maybe Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep or a book of his short stories. His concepts are interesting, but definitely are not thick with character development.

Valis is another of his books with very complex and interesting concepts. Aside from the main character, I don't think you even need to remember the other characters names.

As mentioned above; 2010, 2061, 3001 are good. For fun try reading The Sentinel; it's the short story that 2001 was based upon.
If you're a fan of the movie try The Lost Worlds of 2001. It has some behind-the-scenes info on the movie plus a slightly different version of the novel 2001. I also contains The Sentinel.
For further Clark reading try the Rama series; the first one is great.
