Cassandra | 5832 comments GENRE BINGO CHALLENGE
Duration: January 1, 2017 - December 31, 2017

Let's play bingo! For this challenge, read books to make as many "bingos" as possible (five squares in a line - can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal). You can set a goal for total number of books, number of bingos, or both!

You can use the bingo card provided above OR, if you're feeling particularly adventurous, you can make your own.

Instructions to Make Your Own Bingo Card:

1. Go to http://osric.com/bingo-card-generator/

2. Enter the following info:

3. Click "Generate Bingo Cards"

To host the image on Goodreads:
1. Save the image of the bingo card to your computer (I did this by taking a screenshot then editing out the white space)
2. On your profile, click: "more photos" under your profile picture
3. Click "add more photos"
4. Upload your image file
5. Click "largest size" to the upper right of your image
6. Copy the web address for the image and post using the image tag: [img src="image url"] but replace []s with <>s

Cassandra | 5832 comments How to Participate
1. Post here telling the challenge leader that you'd like to join the challenge. You can choose your books for the challenge at the beginning, or add them as you go. You can join a challenge at any time, as long as the challenge is still active.

2. Whenever you finish a book for the challenge, post here and let the challenge leader know so they can update your progress.

Some members choose to update their original post with their progress to keep track of their challenge more easily, but make sure to also post a new message so the challenge leader knows to go look at your original post. You can look at how other members report their progress to find a strategy that works well for you.

For more information about how challenges work, check out this thread or ask your challenge leader.

message 32: by Cheri (new)

Cheri (jovali2) Cassandra, I have both "historical" and "historical nonfiction" on my bingo card. I've been googling to find the difference, and as far as I can tell, there isn't one. I can certainly make up a distinction. Should I just do that? Or can you point me to the definitions used to make up the list? Thanks!

message 33: by Kara (new)

Kara (karaayako) | 3980 comments Hey Cheri, we were thinking historical fiction versus historical nonfiction (so the first could be something like The Underground Railroad and the second might be something like SPQR: A History of Ancient Rome). Hope that helps!

Kara (karaayako) | 3980 comments I'll go for 24 with the default card. :)

Cassandra | 5832 comments Jennifer: Glad you got it uploaded! If you take the trailing (last) slash off the image link, it should show up. HTML code can be kind of finicky. How many books and/or bingos would you like to aim for?

Welcome Imbunche!

Read, Relax, Review | 2365 comments Cassandra - Could you make that 3 bingos please? Another question: Where the rows intersect - for example on mine I have Historical Fiction in the top left hand corner - do we need to read more than one in that genre for it to count for the bingo?

message 44: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments Zara - nope! If you read one book from the top left hand corner, you can have three bingos (vertical, horizontal, and diagonal) all using that one book.

message 45: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Shipman I'll try for 2 bingos please.
