"I think that sounds like a fair trade," he said, as he pretended to consider her thankful declaration. "I think for this, one child named after me will be sufficient."

“Okay, I swear it’ll have your name.” She replied, laughing a little because their conversation didn’t really make sense but it wasn’t making her feel uncomfortable or anything.

"Perfect. Ive accomplished something today," he joked. He was so muddy headed he couldn't figure out why this conversation had started or how it had gotten here but it was funny.

“There’s that.” She agreed, chuckling as she leaned her head against his arm and just stared back at him because she quite frankly couldn’t help it.

His smile stayed but he shifted into a better position. His newly healed everything groaned in protest but it had also become uncomfortably stiff. He sighed once he was settled and glanced at her. "What?"

"You drool in your sleep." She teased, reaching out with her thumb to wipe off some imaginary drool from his lips.

He blushed lightly, instantly embarrassed by it. "It's better than snoring, right?" He asked, but was realizing how close she was now that she was reaching for his face

"You do that too." She told him, unable to help her grin again when he started to blush. She didn't even realize her hand was still resting on his cheek, or that they were so close she could see every shade of color his eyes had.

"I thought you couldn't do both?" He said. Someone had been lying to him then. And they had, because a person most certainly could. She hadn't moved away and he was getting odd flashes of...kissing her? He didn't remember doing it, but apparently he did at the same time.

“Well, you snore with your mouth open. A person usually drools because, you know… their mouth is open.” She told him, unconsciously rubbing her thumb against his cheek as she talked about his… snoring? She wasn’t even sure anymore. “One thing leads to another and boom.”

He nodded slowly but he'd lost track of what she was saying. Somewhere before 'One thing leads to another', he'd started thinking about...something else. and he felt sort of gravitating to her but he couldn't quite place why.

It was an interesting phrase, Raelynn believed. “One thing led to another”. Because as she noticed Rowan move closer to her, she began to think about how thrilled she’d be to tell her friend Vanessa about it. To tell her that she finally had her first sober kiss with Rowan. But then that train of thought made her think of her sister- Everleigh. Everleigh, who had finally gotten out of the hospital and gone out with a guy she probably thought was cute. How many times had Raelynn offered to set her up with someone, just to remind her sister they were young and that it wouldn’t last long?

Rowan moved closer, leaning his head down to kiss her. He had a vague memory of doing it before and with her so close it was hard to keep himself from wanting to fill in the gaps. How they had happened to get to this point, he wasn't quite sure, but it had to do with one thing led to another.

Raelynn allowed their lips to brush before she basically jumped off the bed, clearing her throat. “You know what? I forgot I had to do something with my sister today. You know, a dinner and stuff she won’t let me get out of.” She lied, unaware that up until a few hours ago, he was supposed to have plans with her. She wasn’t even sure of why she was lying- because she wanted to kiss Rowan until late at night or until either one got sick of it. But she couldn’t, because she would be an asshole for going after the only guy her sister had ever been interested in. Besides, he was still hurt over his ex.

Rowan froze in shock when she jumped up, and his heart sank a minute later. "Oh...yeah of course. Can't get out of that," he said like everything was fine, but he felt now even worse than right after he'd gotten beat up. That rejection was worse than a punch in the gut, to the point that he didn't even fully recognize her lie for how bad it was. "Don't make me keep you."

Raelynn cleared her throat again, because it suddenly felt dry, and started getting her things again. “I’ll try to swing by tomorrow but I’m behind on a few classes so I have, like, detention and a lot of homework to catch up to. So… I’ll text you or whatever.” She said, not even looking at him now because she’d do something he’d probably regret later. If he had been anyone else, some stranger she were interested in, she would have gone for it. But she actually liked him- so much that she wouldn’t like losing him because she was stupid.

Rowan sat up in bed and nodded still like it was no big deal. "Yeah definitely. If you need any help just uh....let me know. I wouldn't be much help but....you know..." He offered but it felt awkward. All of it felt awkward. He hated himself for making it like this. "Yeah so um....I'll see you later?"

“Yeah, sure. See you later.” She said, walking towards the door before she turned back and finally looked at him. She only reached into her bag again and held out a bag for him, one she had intended to give him either way. “Here is the junk food I promised you.”

"Oh, thanks," he said and took the bag , but that didn't help what he was feeling at all. He was lost on how to act and everything now that this had happened. He was so stupid. So so stupid.

“No problem. So, uh… bye.” She said, then did something she’d hate herself for. Because she reached her hand out for a…. Fist bump. An awkward one.

"Bye..." He said carefully and gave her the fist bump but even he was with it enough to think that odd. He could tell she did too, and it made him wonder about why she'd gotten awkward too. Had he made her that uncomfortable?

Raelynn only gave him two thumbs up- could she be more pathetic- before she was out the door, cursing herself for acting the way she was acting and promising herself that the next time, she wouldn’t pull away. But before the next time came, she had to talk with her sister first.

Once she was gone, Rowan groaned and flopped back on the bed. So stupid. Why had he done that? Hadn't he just told himself earlier that he wasn't ready? And really this was proof because he just... He needed to stop this, so maybe it was good she left. How he'd be able to face her again was a mystery

Janelle had been watching them for a while, having been waiting for him to be alone so that she'd manifest before him, but she had ended up waiting longer than expected. First it was because of Everleigh, a girl with a face identical to the girl that just left his room, who had been so full of contained magic that she had to step outside for a moment. Not because she was afraid of getting caught, but because it reminded her so much of someone else.
Then, she had to wait longer when Raelynn came in to keep Rowan company- when she came to heal him. She had expected to wait maybe a few minutes before Rowan gave her the boot, but she ended up waiting nearly three hours because they had decided to sleep together. Janelle had been there when they started spooning, surprised to see that it didnt take long before some kind of force brought them together. She had been confused up until they woke up and looked at each other with so much....passion? Then came their near kiss, which was surprisingly cut off by Raelynn.
Now Janelle watched as Raelynn dissapeared down the hall, her head tilted to the side before she turned to look in the direction of Rowans dorm room. It was a good sign, she decided as she knocked on his door, that he had looked so hurt when Raelynn pulled away from him. It meant that he was getting over his ex girlfriend, who Janelle had followed during the few minutes she hadn't been with Rowan. She couldn't help but to notice her red hair and similar features to herself- which only reinforced the idea that Rowan indeed had a type. One that she was sure would get him in trouble.

Rowan had his arm draped over his face and was replaying over and over again just everything he'd done wrong. Another groan escaped when there was a knock at the door because he didn't want to see anyone. But he was also too accursedly polite to let them think he wasn't in here. So he went to the door and opened it up. "Oh, hey," he said, clearly surprised it was her on the other side. She always seemed to be there when he needed some company, but he also didn't really feel like having company. "What brings you here?"

"I came to see if you were still in need of some healing." She replied, but looked him over as if she didnt already know he looked much better than he had in the morning. "You only have a couple of bruises but you look good, I think. Still in pain?" She asked, tilting her head to the side as she gave him a smile- similar to one she had noticed Raelynn gave when she was flirting with someone. Very similar.

"No actually. I had a friend come and patch me up. I'm feeling a lot better," Rowan said, flattered that she came to check on him. How she knew where he lived wasn't even a question in his mind. And her smile was a little contagious to make him forget other things.

“Can I come in?” She asked, leaning her head against the doorframe as she continued to smile up at him. “Or are you too tired to let me in?”

"Oh....sure you can come in," he said and stepped back to let her. He wasn't that tired and he somehow doubted she would stay long. She rarely stayed long, he doubted this would be the time she did.

Janelle stepped inside, looking around the room as if this were the first time she had been there. Once again, she couldn’t help but to wonder where his roommate was. Not once did he step inside to grab anything. “Your friend must have miracle hands if she made you look like this again after a few hours.”

"Yeah, well....I'm a vampire, so I heal pretty fast on my own," Rowan admitted, for once feeling self conscious about his species. "But yeah, she's a great nurse. Made those first few hours of healing a little less insufferable."

"But you're all good now, right?" She asked, since it wasn't like she could see every inch of his body and look for cuts or open wounds. But she supposed that since he got up to open the door for her, he must have been fine.

"Yeah I'm fine," he said and shrugged. Or rather he was as fine as he could be. He didn't really know how to be honest about it because he didn't want to tell everything to really anyone. He was....physically okay, at least.

“Fine enough to take a walk with me?” She asked, putting her hands into the pockets of the jacket she was wearing. She loved being able to change into anything she wanted, especially when it was worth… nothing.

"Um....yeah sure I guess," he said, not wanting to decline though he wasn't thrilled about being seen by people again. Being this upset today had made him quite the recluse and it wasn't really good. Before it had just been moderate but now he was bad off. "I don't want to go very far though."

“We can just walk down the halls.” She replied, going over to grab the jacket he had dropped when Everleigh had been healing him, and held it out for him.

"Alright," he said and took the jacket. He shrugged it on and didn't even think about how it didn't hurt. By now he was likely fully healed aside from the wounds to his pride and....well his entire existence.

Janelle went to open the door for them, eager to get out of the room and go somewhere that wasn't there. sure, no one would see her, but she'd be able to move things around because of him.

Rowan followed her out, a little less eager though even the hallway was better than staring at his wall. And he liked talking to her, though it occurred to him this was the first time he'd really be able to spend time with her. She usually ditched him quickly.

Rowan's whole body felt heavy. His head felt like led, worse than a hangover in ways he couldn't quite describe. Still, he knew he couldn't sleep much longer because then his head would definitely hurt worse. Without opening his eyes, he dragged his hand through his hair and itched through the bedhead, then reached over for his phone on the nightstand to see if he had messages. He stared at the lock screen bleary eyed and frowned at the date. That couldn't be right.... That would mean he'd been asleep for two days. Suddenly he was feeling quite awake and cursed himself for sitting up as quickly as he did for how it made his head throb. "No no no," he muttered, opening the phone up to go back to his last text to Raelynn which was in a dated category meaning it really had been more than a day. He'd promised to check on her and he hadn't. More than that, how had he slept this long without a bathroom break or starving??

Janelle knocked on his door then, putting her hands behind her back once she did. She knew he was awake now, which was great because she had begun to worry when he’d been gone for days. The good thing was that she took the time to figure out a few other things- things that would strengthen their relationship.

Despite his disturbing wakeup call, Rowan still had to slog out of bed to get the door. His muddy head couldnt even decipher why he didn't call to come in because he was too busy doing it himself. He knew he looked a wreck, wide-eyed and crazed with worry and also hunched with not wanting to be out of bed, so he felt very self conscious when he saw who was outside. The girl who he'd been kissing just last night...or not quite last night.

“Hello.” She said, looking him over with a raised eyebrow before she stepped in. She liked to think that now, because of how they had parted the last time they talked, she didn’t have to wait for an invite in. Which was relieving because it was such a hassle sometimes. “You went MIA for a while, didn’t you? So many things happened and no one could reach you.”

"I...." He started but didn't really have an explanation. He closed the door once she was inside and then ran a hand through his hair again, hopefully smoothing it this time. Unfortunately today didn't want to work out for him and the hair just stood straight up more. "Apparently I've been asleep the whole time. I don't even get how that's possible. I mean yeah I was exhausted, but...."

“Maybe you caught something from when you were in the hospital.” She said, not realizing at first that he hadn’t mentioned having gone there. But she leaned over and gave him a kiss- one that would hopefully distract him from her slip. “I was beginning to think you were avoiding me…”

"Vampires don't get sick," he said, not noticing her slip. He talked so much and thought at the same time it was hard to know what he'd said and what he hadn't. He was starting to think though even if her kiss distracted him from it. What had made him so exhausted? "No, of course I wasn't avoiding you. Fate wouldn't let me if I tried, you know."

“Fate…” She agreed, smiling a little at the word. It was their word, she knew, and would be until the day something worse than death pulled them apart. “You’re right, I suppose. So- are you hungry?”
