I just finished a galley for a great book coming out in January- Dreadnought. Teen lesbian trans superhero fighting supervillains in the PNW - what else do you really want in a book?! A lot of fun.I also really enjoyed the middle grade book George - sweet story, and you can knock it out in a couple of hours.
I also loved the contemporary YA If I Was Your Girl this year.
I also read If I was Your Girl this year, and I liked it. It was very honest and sweet. I also read For Today I Am a Boy which was a very culturally fulfilling read for me as an Asian American, even thought it is about a Chinese Canadian. Some people didn't like the voice of the author, or didn't maybe understand it, but I really thought it was beautiful. It delves deeply into both culture clash and gender identity.

October's challenge is to read a book in which the main character identifies as LGBT.
Here are some lists that I've found on goodreads listopia:
YA fantasty/sf novels with Major LGBTQ characters,
Fiction about LBQ women of color,
Novels with Bisexual Protagonists, and Trans books by Trans authors
What are you reading, and what books would you recommend to anyone looking for a good read that falls in this category?
