MadameZelda Not to mean anything negative, but I'm out, only because I am not familiar with the USA and I have very few contemporary books.

It is a good challenge though for those who have traveled that highway.

LOL Z. But IMO this challenge IS good for those who have NOT traveled here also. It's a great way to get some exposure to something not already familiar. The challenge has many levels and doesn't require knowledge of the US or reading of contemporaries to complete. Not everyone has to be (or wants to be) King of the Road.

When I come up with challenges like this, I approach it as I do my reading - I like to learn and get a glimpse into something I'm not familiar with. When I originally did this challenge for a November monthly, I looked for November happenings trying to find something different than the norm. And found the opening of Route 66. I loved doing the research, checking out the pics, and learning more about a time in US history.

It would be a blast to do a road trip along the entire thing. Not happening for me in real life more than likely. But I can take that trip virtually and in my reading.

I hope people enjoy "taking the trip" as much as I enjoyed creating it.
