Beverly | 4 comments This is my first 24 hour readathon

Fueling up on pancakes, sausage and orange juice before reading.

Beverly | 4 comments It is 12:41 PM and after some family conversations I have had a light lunch and finished my first book.

How I Became a North Korean by Krys Lee.

Three words that came to mind when finished reading - profound, compelling, terse but poised language.

This is the second book by the author and I also enjoyed this one and look forward to reading future work by the author.

Beverly | 4 comments Finished Teaching My Mother How to Give Birth by Warsan Shire - a short poetry collection.

It had my attention and at times it was a punch in the stomach with the reminder that dislocation, the female body, and awaken sensuality can strip away the illusion of humanity.

Now reading something more fun that has me wondering who is going to win out in this tale of people outconning each other with the unexplained magic.

The Ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) Go Reader Go!!!! Hope you are enjoying all of your books.

Keep reading and have fun :)
