Karin Rahbek (karinrahbek) The link to Amazon online is no longer working. I can't find out where I can change it.

Can you please tell where to do it or put in the link to my book on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Do-have-mother...

lethe | 13658 comments For me, the Amazon link works fine, both for the paperback and for the Kindle edition.

Karin Rahbek (karinrahbek) The link only works for the old version of the book, which I think should be deleted because I only changed the title and the book cover.

Here's where you end up if you use to follow the online link to my book on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=...

lethe | 13658 comments There were two separate listings for your book, I have now combined them.

You are trying to search the ebook with ISBN on Amazon. That is not going to work, because the only ebooks Amazon sells are Kindle editions. The Smashwords link works fine on that edition.

No-longer-published editions are never deleted from Goodreads, because users want to shelve the edition they own.

Karin Rahbek (karinrahbek) It still doesn't work for me...

message 6: by lethe (new)

lethe | 13658 comments I don't know what you are trying to do. In order to link the edition to a retail site, it needs an ISBN or ASIN in the book record. Print editions and Kindles can be found on Amazon, ebooks can be found on f.e. Smashwords.

message 7: by Karin (new)

Karin Rahbek (karinrahbek) I just click on "Amazon" in the "Online stores" dropdown menu. The button under "Get a copy". The other button is called "libraries"

message 8: by lethe (new)

lethe | 13658 comments Yes, but as I explained in message #4, it matters which edition you are on.

The first edition listed is the Smashwords ebook. You are not going to find that on Amazon. You will only find the Kindle edition and the paperback with ISBN on Amazon.

Karin Rahbek (karinrahbek) Will the link to Amazon work later this week when I cancel the Smashwords edition - I am going exclusively on Amazon.

Paula (paulaan) | 7027 comments Only on the edition with ASIN and the paperback which alreDy works

Amazon does not sell the smash words edition so the Amazon link will not work.

The Smashwords edition will stay on GR even if you unpublish it on Smashwords.

If you want the Kindle edition to be the default edition use the instructions in Msg 4 in the link below to set it

Paula (paulaan) | 7027 comments When the link does not work, which Amazon site is launched?
.com, .co.uk or other?

message 12: by lethe (last edited Oct 10, 2016 02:30AM) (new)

lethe | 13658 comments All the Amazon links work. Karin just selects the wrong edition (Smashwords is the default).

Karin, the Amazon link works on these two editions:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... (paperback)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... (Kindle edition)

It does not work on the new, alternative-cover editions, because those do not have an ISBN or ASIN. But the book record refers to the edition with the ISBN or ASIN, and GR users know how to find it on Amazon.

Some formats are retailer-specific. Amazon does not sell Smashwords ebooks.

Karin Rahbek (karinrahbek) Thank for the explanation.

I will come back if it changes later this week when the Smashwords edition is withdrawn. I will only sell the book through Amazon.

message 14: by lethe (new)

lethe | 13658 comments That makes no difference for Goodreads. The Smashwords edition will stay listed here (see Paula's message #10).
