Jane (janeboniface) | 123 comments This would be my pick of the August 2016 Scholastic Intermediate Standing Order.
It is such a beautifully written book! It is a fantasy/adventure, with themes of friendship and courage.
I've put our copy in General fiction (not YA)
It would make a great Read Aloud - plenty of mystery & action to keep everyone engaged. And it's quite short (I think that's important for a good class Read Aloud).

Sharon Phillips | 16 comments I also enjoyed this one - I'd say one of the more quirky books I've read. I particularly liked the half-references to real places which gave it a hint of realism in an otherwise fantasy-rich, action packed, plot.

Joanna | 14 comments For me, though I did enjoy the book, its quirkyness was a little off-putting. I don't know if boys will read it - time will tell.
